Lando POV
———————
After the call with the guys ended I went and sat on my bed. It was already pretty late and tomorrow I had to be in Spain for the race weekend. I couldn't sleep so decided to go onto Instagram.
I thought to look up the girl who I'd just seen and to my luck I found her. I scrolled through her page a bit and it was a lot of gaming, family, friends and dogs. One particular post caught my eye. She looked absolutely beautiful in it, yet it was so simple. There was something about her...

I couldn't help but notice she had comments limited or completely disabled under her posts.
She must have her reasons, I can understand that someone trying to make it prefers to limit the amount of say people have.

I went to follow her but noticed George already followed her. Two drivers in one day after the stream really will cause her to feel intimidated. I decided to wait until another day to follow her and go to bed.

Violet turned over to her phone and noticed it was from Instagram.

@GeorgeRussell followed you

She sat straight up in disbelief.
The George Russell following me?! What the heck?!

She knew it was late and that she should get some sleep but she stared at his profile like it was going to disappear.

She'd always liked George but didn't follow his racing as closely as other drivers'. It wasn't anything particular but Violet had always felt more connected to the underdog teams, not so much the 'hot shot' teams like Mercedes.

She put her phone back down and tossed and turned trying to fall asleep. As she drifted off she swore she heard her phone chime again but her heavy eyelids told her it can wait until the morning.

The next morning she woke up extra early to make sure she got to work on time. Looking out the window she remembers why she hated the weather in this part of the world so much. From a sunny day yesterday it had turned grey and rain was clearly on the verge of falling.
Only once she was ready did she remember the notification.

@GeorgeRussell wants to send you a message.

She froze. Her thumb hovered over the notification. No ways, it can't be true. Slowly, she tapped it and the DM opened.

George
Hey... Evans right? Please don't freak out. I promise I'm not intimidating. I saw your stream, you seem pretty cool, emphasis on the pretty ;)

Did George Russell just call me pretty? What is going on?

She turned her phone off without knowing how to reply and went to work. All throughout the long and tedious work day the DM was on her mind the whole time. She hadn't told Josh because she was sure he'd freak out but she had thought to mention the follow-
Her thoughts were interrupted by yelling. She flinched, she hated having to deal with confrontation.

"What the?! How can you spill an entire coffee on me?! You ruined my suit!"
"I'm so sorry sir! I didn't see you and-"
"Never mind! Where's a waitress that can help?!"

Violet: Sir, excuse me... could I ask you to lower your volume... I can hel-

"NOT NOW GIRL! I need an actual waiter not some tip collecting barista!"

Josh: Woah! What's the commotion? Sir, if you don't calm down now we'll have to remove you. I also don't appreciate you referring to a fellow employee with such disrespect. She's as much of a waiter as I am.

"Another kid telling me off? Have you no respect?!"

Sally: -Remove yourself at once sir! I will not tolerate this in my business. Thanks for trying you two but he's no man to be helped...

After a grunt the man left and Sally gave a meaningful look at Violet who was clearly uneasy.
Sally: Go home Evans, rest and come fresh Monday morning. Don't spare another thought on that guy. You've had a long day.
Violet: Thank you...

She grabbed her things and headed straight for the sidewalk. Her whole life she'd been looked down upon: a girl trying to make it in the gaming industry was apparently ridiculous, hearing this man tonight call her a girl sent her back all the years she'd worked to earn the respect of the gaming community.
When she made it outside wet pellets hit her face.
"Rain, great."
She hadn't taken her umbrella and the nearest bus stop was a couple roads down.
"Guess I'm doing this."

She made a run for it but someone grabbed her wrist.
Josh: Wait, you'll get drenched.
Violet: I don't have a choice
Josh: Take my umbrella.
Violet: No, it's fine. Let me go.
Josh: Look, I know you're hurt by what that man said but Vi you're one of the most amazing people I know. Don't let some stranger throw you off your path.
Violet: You don't understand Josh. It's not just a comment I can brush off. I've worked so hard to be where I am and I'm still nowhere! Nobody wants to sponsor some girl in anything because it seems ridiculous! We've never been respected like we sometimes damn well deserve and it sucks! Now just leave me please.

Stunned at her expression Josh released her hand and watched as she ran down the block. By the time she was home she was drenched. Turns out busses don't operate very often in the rain...

Vicky: Honey! You're ho- what's wrong?
Violet: I'm fine. Long day. I'll be in my room.

She went to her room and immediately fell onto her bed, letting the tears she'd forced back finally fall. As she lay her mind wandered back to George's DM. She had such a long day that she had forgotten about it by the end of the shift. Shaking off some nerves she picked up her phone and opened it to reply.
