The ocean was a beautiful place for me to go when I needed to clear my head. To be away from the elegance of society, a place to be myself. After me and will were rescued, the general negotiated with will that I would be in good hands and would be raised right as a lady since will was to be raised as a blacksmith and the general suggested that a blacksmith shop was no place for a lady but I disagreed. Time from time I would slip away from my daily lessons of tea time or a manners lesson to help my brother with a new project like a sword of a knife. He didn't like the idea that I was running away all the time and thought he was going to get into trouble for letting me do so. It was 7 am by the time I made it down to my secret beach. No one knew of my secret beach. I had built a little hut made of reeds and mud. It had some nice handmade strings of different shells hanging from the top that made kind of a bead curtain. I slipped off my brown pumps and slipped off my underdress revealing my bloomers and my undertop. If anyone saw me like this, they'd probably scream and report me to the guards. I had a necklace with a clam shell locket that was real on a cord around my neck. Elizabeths father gave it to me as a gift on my 5th birthday. I breathed in the salty sea air letting it fill my lungs. A girl could breathe out here instead of being squished into a corset. I started running toward the waves with such joy filling my heart. The wind whistled in my ears and my long brown hair fell out of its messy hair style. I dove in and began to swim underwater letting the water soak my whole being. I turned onto my back and looked up at the blue sky soaking it all in. Something about the ocean was familiar but I wasn't sure what. All I could think was, the water was my home and I wished I could be in it forever.
