The surroundings are dark. Pitch black. I can't see anything, and all I hear is the pounding of my heart in my chest and the heavy rhythm of my breath. I huddle in a small corner, trying to make myself as inconspicuous as possible. I don't want them to see me like this.
Footsteps echo in the darkness, and a presence approaches my hiding spot. Why are there so many footsteps outside? Don't tell me they're still—
A blinding light pierces through the darkness, momentarily blinding me. It shields my eyes and grants me a momentary respite. Slowly, the light fades, and I cautiously open my eyes. Figures stand before me, reaching out, trying to help me gently out of the corner I've tucked myself into.
They're police officers, as I can discern from their uniforms. I've been waiting for them for so long, but their arrival feels late, too late. It's over. I can't change it now. The tears that have been building up in my eyes are now falling uncontrollably.
"Ma'am, you're safe now!" one of the officers assures me, handing me a towel.
"Captain! It's confirmed she's Mr. Del Rosario's daughter!" another officer reports to the last man who entered the room.
"Get all the paramedics ready! The victim's in an unstable mental state!"
What happened? In just one week, almost everyone I know is gone. I try to wipe away my tears, only to notice my hands are covered in blood, not just my hands but my whole body.
Attempting to clean myself only spreads the blood across my skin, and I break down even more.
I feel someone behind me, and instinctively, I reach out to touch their arm. But then, I recognize a familiar voice.
"Baby, it's okay. Nobody's going to hurt you anymore, okay?" Her soft voice rings in my ears as she hugs me tightly.
"Everything's going to be okay, baby. Mommy's going to handle it, okay?" It's her, my mom. Her face is beautiful, ageless, hiding behind an enigmatic grace.
My body trembles, and I pour my heart out. "Mommy! I'm scared! My classmates, my friends, and my boyfriend!"
"Yes, yes. Don't worry, darling. But right now, our priority is your health, okay?" A voice comes from behind, and I turn to see my dad. He hugs me, defying his usual aversion to dirt.
Maybe because of the overwhelming happiness of being in their arms, my body gives up, and I lose consciousness.
Hospital - 3:57 p.m.
I regain consciousness half an hour ago. Nurses and doctors are checking my vital signs. My dad is in the mini living room, closing his eyes, probably exhausted. He's here for me now as my mom went home to prepare dinner.
Once the medical staff leaves, my dad slowly opens his eyes, looks at me, and lets out a sigh. He approaches me, pats my back gently, and holds my hand tightly.
"I am disappointed," he says, and my heart skips a beat. But then, he continues, "I already taught you to prioritize yourself in danger. Don't show cowardice to anyone."
"I'm sorry, Daddy," I mutter, staring at the monitor that displays my heartbeat.
He pats my head before going back to the couch. Mommy arrives later, and we have dinner. Every bite I take feels like tasting the blood that stained my past, the horrors that haunt me.
As I eat, the smell and taste of rust flow into my lips and esophagus, reminding me of the horrifying scenes I witnessed—a house bathed in blood, bodies buried beneath the ground for years, classmates disappearing one by one, found dead or missing body parts.
I close my eyes, trying to escape from the haunting memories, but they linger, casting shadows on my soul. A tear escapes, and I lay on my stomach, feeling the pain at my back. For the first time in almost half a year, I can sleep peacefully, but the nightmares of my past refuse to let me go.

Fashionable_12I would like to hear your own opinions on this story of mine. Maybe I'm nervous now because it's my first time to write this kind of genre in a book.
Even if you complain, it's still okay. You can also message my watty to suggest or anything for my stories that I have written. Or why am I always missing/missing in action when (and after) updating my pending stories?
I change my mind-!You better comment if you guys want me to continue thisssss (=^•^=)
