Friday arrived, marking the day of our thesis submission. Felicity and I stood in the hallway, representing our group to submit the hard copy of our thesis to our professor.

As we exited the department building, we spotted Alexander walking towards us. He was accompanied by his friends, and the cheers from their group reached us as he walked—or rather, sprinted—towards Felicity.

By the way, Alexander is Felicity's suitor, and it seems he might be more than that in the future. I just smiled at Felicity, who blushed instantly. She's cute.

Alexander opened the umbrella he was holding and shielded Felicity from the sun. I didn't complain, as I had my own umbrella that I intended to share with Felicity, but it seemed like I would have to use it solo.

"Where are you two headed, Feli?" he asked, and I couldn't see where I was going anymore because of the huge grin on his face, showcasing his sparkling white teeth. I wonder where and with whom he goes for dental care. Should I make an appointment?

"To the Teachers' Building. We're submitting our thesis," Felicity replied, and Alexander raised his hand, ready to put it around her.

"Come on! I'll accompany you. The sun's still scorching, and you might get tired," he said, raising Felicity's spirits even more. She blushed and rolled her eyes. She's totally smitten.

We walked towards the Teachers' Building, and my eyes got caught in the middle of the two buildings. I paused to get a better look at who it was, but it was dark, and without sunlight, I couldn't identify the person he was with.

"Arias?" Felicity called out, snapping me back to reality. I could see the curiosity in her eyes. I was about to tell her about what I saw, but I hesitated. I needed to confirm it first.

"I'll catch up with you, Feli. You guys go ahead. I think I left something in the classroom," I said, smiling at her, while Alexander looked clueless with his perpetual grin. I needed to sort this out first.

"Okay! Take care, and hurry. Theo might suddenly look for you," she said, laughing, as she was being pulled away by Alexander, who seemed utterly fascinated. When I saw them at a distance, the smile vanished from my lips.

I walked through the passage between the two buildings, determined to confirm what I had seen earlier. As I neared the spot, a sudden thud echoed in the darkened area. Carefully, I strained my eyes to discern the surroundings, shrouded in shadows. What unfolded before me brought tears to my eyes.

I couldn't afford to be mistaken; the silhouette I saw was unmistakable. The truth struck me like a heavy blow.

Quickly, I retreated from that place, unsure if they had heard my footsteps. At that moment, I didn't care if they did. I ran until I collided with someone. The force of my quick pace caused me to stumble as I got back on my feet, not bothering to check who I bumped into. I needed to put distance between myself and that haunting scene.

I sprinted away, tears streaming down my face. The echoes of my hurried steps filled the air, drowning out any sounds that might have reached the ears of those I left behind. Eventually, my pace slowed, and I came to a sudden stop, catching my breath. The cold reality of what I witnessed gnawed at my senses.

And then, a gentle pull on my arm turned me around. In the dim light, I saw the face of the person who had collided with me, and my sobs intensified. Maybe it was the familiarity of those arms, but I couldn't hold back the overwhelming emotions.

"Thank you," I whispered, tightening my embrace. The silent gratitude hung in the air, mingling with the shadows that concealed the mysterious events that had unfolded, leaving me with unanswered questions and a heart heavy with the weight of the unknown.
