"Jongdae," Minseok breathes out in sorrow, hanging his head low and grabbing his chest as he tries his hardest to breathe.

His heart burns, the same way it does before when the remnants of his being a zilch alpha was still there. In the past, it was an itch to care for an omega.

Right now, it's just pain and grief, longing for something that never was, that might never be.

The moment his parents silenced his wolf, is the moment he started developing his condition, even when zilch wolves mustn't have one, as compensation for what they would offer to others.

But here it is now, Minseok aches to death from his mate's rejection, even though he doesn't understand.

Even though he doesn't know what led to him forming such a condition.

"I want to give up," Minseok cries out, turning to Lu Han, causing the latter to look back at him. "I can't—I can't take it anymore. He just doesn't want me. He just doesn't—He just wouldn't like me ever!"

"Damn it, Minseok," Lu Han scolds, grabbing Minseok's shoulders. "Get it together! You have forever to wait for that omega. And I'm sure he'll one day like you. We now have all the means to reach him—You can't fucking give up now!"

"But he just keeps rejecting me," Minseok retaliates. "He'll just reject me again. However hard I try, maybe he just doesn't want me to be his alpha, Lu Han! He just doesn't want me. I should've known it the moment I saw him, that he was too high to attain and that I shouldn't have had hopes to ever be liked by an omega like him. I should've given up the first time!"

"Don't you fucking say that!" Lu Han exclaims, furrowing his eyebrows deeply and trying to stop Minseok from removing his hands on his arms. "He's your destined mate, Minseok. He's all yours. No one can take him. No one else can take care of that omega."

"Well," Minseok states. "They better do," Minseok retorts, swallowing and raising his eyebrows. "Someone who Jongdae can actually get himself to love."

"Jongdae will love you!" Lu Han retaliates. "If not now, then tomorrow. If not tomorrow, then the next day. One day will come for you to have him, so don't fucking give up!"

"I have a condition," Minseok emphasizes, looking into Lu Han's eyes, his lips quivering. "We have a condition. It feels so fucking painful to see Jongdae reject me over and over again," Minseok states. "You know how it feels, Lu Han. You have a condition, too."

"Yes, but if I was you, I'd take it," Lu Han states, nodding slowly and breathing deeply through his mouth. "The one you love is your destined mate. You'd be sure to have him sooner or later. I don't even fucking have that with Sehun! You don't understand how lucky you are!"

Minseok frowns at Lu Han. "Lucky?" he snaps. "I'm lucky? After losing the one chance to meet Jongdae out of fate, I'm lucky? After getting rejected by my own fucking mate, I'm lucky?! I even scented the gifts like you said! He doesn't fucking want even my scent, Lu Han!"

"So you'll give up?" Lu Han questions. "You'll give up now? We've been doing this for years and you'd give up now? For what? To give him away to an alpha not destined to him? So they can't understand what Jongdae needs and so they can't take care of him the way they should?"
