❦I kinda wish i was Liliyan rn❦

Y/ns POV

It was the next morning and of course Liliyan noticed something was up already but didn't say anything as we walk to the ilus for our first lesson.

"If you want to live here you must learn to ride. " Ao'nung tells us. We all split up as Tsireya chooses to teach Lo'ak, Neteyam and I as Ao'nung gets told to teach Liliyan and Tuk. Wait where's Kiri? Oh well if nobody else is questioning it then I guess I won't. 'Y/n' Liliyan says 'yes? 'I reply 'she's splitting us up. I can't do this' she tells me with a look of worry covering her face. "Tsireya do you have to split us up? " I ask hoping she will let us stay together. "Yes I'm sorry but I doubt Ao'nung could handle more than two student and I couldn't handle more than three. " She replies. I look at Liliyan as she looks down and tightens her grip around my hand. Clearly the others have started paying more attention to her when this happens. "Are you okay Liliyan? " Ao'nung asks. Her non-verbal response is she steps closer to me and wraps a hand around my waist and whispers an almost inaudible "Not really. " This clearly wasn't the reaction they were expecting as Omatikayana raise their eyebrows and you could tell they were confused at this. I looked at her 'I can't do this y/n. I just can't. ' she telepathically told me. 'Yes you can, if anything happens just tell me and we can go back. ' She takes a deep breath and steps forward. "Okay I can do this." She tells us. "You got this girl. " I tell her in support. "Okay let's go. " Ao'nung says as he, Tuk and Liliyan walk away. "Okay, now who want to try first? " Tsireya asks our remaining group."I can? We have them on Motuni however they are faster and st"I volunteer. "Okay let's try it. " Tsireya replies as she guides me to sit on the ilu. "Now make the bond. " She tells me calmly. As I do so I feel the ilus heart, I feel her breath, I feel her. I laugh a bit as the feeling reminds me star, my ilu back on Motuni because they bond for life there. Tsireya notices I know how to ride already and tells me to go ahead so she can see how good I am. I then decide to give them a little show so as my ilu dives into the water I make her do a fun spin and when it jumps out it does a backflip. I laugh as I ride back to the others and disconnect from the ilu. Neteyam, Tsireya and Lo'ak look at me in shock. "How the fuck-? " Lo'ak says in complete confusion. "It's a Motunuian thing. " I say shrugging my sholders and ignoring their looks of shock and confusion. 'Y/n help me please' I stop what I'm doing 'I need you' I hear Liliyan say in a panic

Liliyans POV

I followed Tuk and Ao'nung towards the ilus, I already knew how to ride it since they are on Motunui so before Ao'nung can say anything I get on one, make the bond and start riding in a circle around them and dive into the water doing a flip as it jumps out. I then get off it. "What the hell? How do you know that?" Ao'nung questions. "We have them on Motunui. " I answer plainly keeping my head down. "Tuk do you want to try to ride one? " I ask politely. She shakes her head to say no "why not?" I ask "This one's scary... " she whispers as I look towards the black ilu "Here." I saw as I guide her towards the ilu and I hold her hand. "Let's do this in steps. One, take a deep breath" I tell her and she does. "Two, get on with me. " I say as I get on and lift her in front of me. "Three, make the bond, feel her heart. " I say as Tuk does so and she smiles. "And four, go wherever you want to go. " I tell her as I put her hands on the antennas and hold on with her as she moves forward and goes in a circle. We stop and get off and she hugs me smiling "Thank you (๑'✪̤◡✪̤)◞ღ" I freeze at this. She lets go and I say "No problem. " "I thought I was meant to be the teacher" Ao'nung claims, clearly not happy that I just did his job. "Sorry it's just that's what y/n did when we were younger to help me with it. " I respond with guilt washing over me. "Hey Ao'nung, why are you with these weirdos? " I hear a voice yell and I look over to see the Metkayina boys who pulled my tail when I first got here.

"My sisters making me teach them even though they was no point in me doing anyway. " he answers while glaring at me. "Isn't that the lovey-dovey creep? " One of the boys say. "She's so weird!" another one says and grabs my tail again which makes me whimper in pain. "Stop it! " I hear Tuk yell. 'Y/n help me please' I call for her 'I need you' I call again 'what's going on' she asks 'boys are making fun of me and are pulling on my tail. Please come here. 'I ask desperately 'I'm on my way.' She replies
