Ranboo POV

"Hi, bug, how you doing kiddo?"

I hear a watery laugh in return.

"Has it been a hard day, bug?" He nods.

"How old ya feeling, bee?" He holds up three fingers, "are you feeling pretty non-verbal at the moment, bud?" Another nod. "How about, i go tell the nurse that you're sick, and I'll take you home, small one?"

"Mhms." he vocalises.

"Stay here, bub" and with that i place him on a chair

my walk to the nurse's office was short and uneventful but it gave me time to think. i wonder what set him off to begin with, i don't think I'm going to get many answers to that question though, even when he's big, he doesn't tend to share his home-life with me or tommy. speaking of which, I'll need to message him after i sort Tubbo out. i hope he knows how much me and tommy care for him.

i knock on the door.

"Come in"

"Hi miss, toby's sick and he collapsed on the floor, i think he needs to go home ma'am"

"Okay, can you take me to him first though, i just need to check he's okay"

"This way"

when i get back, he's curled himself up and fallen asleep.

"Bud, you need to wake up, i have the nurse with me, she needs to make sure you're not injured before you can go home" i talk to him loud enough that he can hear but not so loud that the nurse can

"mhm"

he slowly sits up and answers the nurses' questions with small movements and sounds. then, she asks if there's anyone a home to collect him, he shakes his head sadly at that, and thats when i chime in.

"If it's okay, ma'am, i could drive toby home and catch up with the lessons i missed tomorrow?"

"Hmm, i don't know.." she seems to think for a while and comes to a conclusion, "i don't want Toby walking home by himself, so as long as you catch up on every piece of work you miss, then yes, you can take him home, do you know if he was walking home with anyone after school?"

"Yes, miss and yes he was supposed to meet up with Tom Simons, i think he was supposed to go back to his house tonight, would i be allowed to tell him that toby's gone home?"

"i suppose so, take him home and let him rest, see you tomorrow" she hands me two slips of paper, and a cup of water for Tubbo and walks away.

"See you tomorrow, ma'am"

I turn my attention to Tubbo, who has curled himself up again and was playing with his hair. i crouch down to talk to him.

"Hey baby-bo, can you walk or would you like me to carry you?"

He puts his arms in the air as a response. as i lift him up, i notice how light he feels in this moment.

"we're going to tell toms, that I'm taking you home, okay?" i feel him nod into my chest as i start walking towards the English classrooms.

once we get there, i set Tubbo down of a chair close to the door, but not close enough that the kids inside can see and i knock on the door.

"yes"

"Hi sir, can i borrow tom Simons for a few minutes, you can have him back after but the nurse told me to tell him something important."

"Yes, i want him back in five minutes though, we're in an important part of the book and he needs to be here for it."

"Do you think we can take two more?"Where stories live. Discover now
