It had only been a couple of months later before Earth got a visitor from outer space. She was currently in New York with Tony in the new building that would be run by clean energy. Stark was plastered over the building.

"Stark Tower is about to become a beacon of self-sustaining clean energy..." she heard Tony from the monitor. He was actually in an Iron Man suit in the ocean setting up the finishing touches that would power the building.

"Well, assuming the arc reactor takes over and it actually works," she replied.

"I assume," he said confidently.

Suddenly, the building powered on and the lights turned back on. Tony was flying back to the building as she smiled, "You assume correctly. How does it look?"

"Like Christmas, but with more me."

She rolled her eyes as she saw Tony set down on the landing outside. The mechanical rotors started to take off the suit.

"Levels are holding steady, I think," she said, staring at the monitor above the table, as he stepped inside.

"Of course they are. I was directly involved," he said as he approached the table she was in front of before he wrapped his arms around her from behind and kissed her shoulder. "Which brings me to my next question. How does it feel to be a genius?"

She giggled a bit, "I am not in any way a genius, Tony."

"What do you mean? All this came from you."

She turned in his arms to lean back against the table as she ran her fingers over the arc reactor in his chest, "All this came from that."

"Yes, but I wouldn't have been able to do it without that beautiful face to motivate me," he smirked.

She shook her head as she blushed lightly, "I can't believe you have your name plastered across the building like you're a God."

He chuckled, "We can always put yours on the next one."

"I don't like my last name," she pouted.

An idea popped into his head and he was surprised by how much he liked it. He actually wanted this idea to come true.

"Well, technically, this could be your name if you married me..."

Her eyes widened at his words and she felt like her heart stopped in her chest. Marriage. She stared at him in panic.

"Did you just ask me to marry you on a whim?"

"Yeah," he smiled. "But I think this might actually be the greatest idea I've ever had."

She could feel her heart pound as the phone that Tony had rang. It was Phil from SHIELD. She could hardly focus as Jarvis got overridden and the elevator opened to reveal the agent.

She was welcome to the distraction; anything to not give him an answer. This felt like too much for her. She was too surprised and she didn't know how to feel about possibly being Eira Stark.

Of course, she always planned to marry Tony...in the future. But this soon felt like it was too fast. She just wanted to be with Tony right now and not worry that maybe she could be a bad wife. What if she wasn't good at it? What if he didn't want her in twenty years? She had so many doubts.

"Mr. Stark," Phil Coulson greeted. "Ms. Stane."

"Phil!" she smiled half-heartedly as she went to greet him.

"Phil?" Tony followed her like a puppy dog. "His first name is Agent."

"Ms. Stane," Phil smiled. "Have you considered SHIELD's other offer?"

Tony gave her a look, "You still get offers?"

"Yes, I do," she smirked lightly. "Fury likes me."

Tony rolled his eyes.

"We actually need you, Ms. Stane, to come in," Phil announced before looking at Tony. "And we need you to look this over as soon as possible."

Phil handed out a device to Tony and he looked at it with a frown, "I don't like being handed things unless it's from her."

"Great," Eira smiled as she grabbed it and then pushed it towards Tony.

He reluctantly grabbed it before looking at Phil, "Official consulting hours are between 8 and 5 every other Thursday."

"This isn't a consultation," Phil announced.

"Is this about the Avengers?" Eira asked.

"Yes," Phil answered. "Which is why I need you to come with me. We want you on the ground immediately."

Whatever happened seemed serious and they apparently wanted her front and center. She sighed uneasily, "Alright."

"The Avengers Initiative was scrapped, I thought. And I didn't even qualify," Tony announced as he moved back to the monitor to download the data file he was given. "Apparently I'm volatile, self-obsessed, don't play well with others."

"This isn't about personality profiles any more."

"Whatever," Tony said before he called. "Snow, a second."

She gave Phil an apologetic look before she hurried over to Tony. They talked quietly and he said in an upset tone, "So you're just gonna go off because SHIELD calls?"

"It seems serious and it's the right thing to do," she lectured.

Tony looked down at the data file before he made all the data appear above the table in blue, transparent boxes. Her eyes widened as she looked at it, "Yeah...it looks pretty serious."

Tony looked down at her worriedly, "I think you should stay here."

"Tony..." she went to argue.

"At least, be careful then," he cut her off as he realized convincing her to stay out of it was hopeless.

"Okay," she promised.

"Can I at least get answer before you go?" Tony said quietly.

Somehow, even though she was about to head off into a danger she didn't even know, she was more scared of this. Her heart pounded at the mere thought.

"I'll...think about it," she said before she gave him a chaste kiss. "I love you."

He smiled, "I love you more."

She smiled mischievously, "I'll have to prove you wrong when this is all over."

"I'm very much looking forward to that," he smirked a bit and she giggled before she walked off.

She was heading off to be an Avenger but her mind was so far away from that. She could only think of the name Eira Stark.
