Ministry of Magic Final Decision About Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

So, there have been many rumors about Hogwarts. Time to put them all to rest. First of all, Hogwarts will stay open. The damage from the legendary battle a couple months ago has long since been repaired. The school will open at the same time as it has year after year: September 1st.

There will be many changes though, along with fewer teachers.  The Ministry of Magic has decided that the most recent year at Hogwarts did not count. When newly appointed Minister of Magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt, was asked about this he replied, "People, parents especially, didn't believe that the previous year at Hogwarts counted as it was under Voldemort's control."

So, 12 year olds would be First Years, 17 year olds would be Sixth Years. Now before you go 'Merlin's beard! Everything will be all messed up!', you should know that the Educators have been working on new books and curriculum for this year. Basically, students would be taking classes that are a mix of  the previous year and the year they would be in now. So, for example, a Third Year last year would be taking a last years classes mixed with Fourth Year information. So this year would be the only one messed up. Next year, students would go into the year they're supposed to be in. So, that Third/Fourth Year student would be a Fifth Year next year at Hogwarts.

The only students off the hook on this double classes, would be the incoming First Years and last years Seventh Years. Those 18 year olds would have to come back to finish their education because the Ministry decided that in the Wizarding World, people without their finished Hogwarts education would be unable to get a decent paying job.

Owls should be arriving with all the information you need to know within the next week.
