He twisted the doorknob desperately, but it was no use; it was locked.
The steps grew louder and his heartbeat was anormally faster than usual. A thin cover of sweat was noticeable on his forehead, his trembling hands and desperation were the signs of his fear.
He swallowed a big gulp and took big breaths, attemping to calm himself.
The huge window behind him was the only proof that is was midnight, and heavy rain appeared to be the starring guest tonight soon. The moonlight was the only thing keeping him from the dark. The black shadows were devouring the room fiercely.
As the steps sounded closer, another cover of sweat poured down his forehead, to the start of his throat. Rain drops decorated the window, and though it was closed, he could swear he felt a cold breeze.
The knot on his stomach, which had faded slightly when he had the minimum chance of escape, appeared again, tighter than ever.
As the rain heavied, his hands grasped the doorknob -shaking- and tried again; but it still was no use.
He heard the door of the other side of the room behind him open, but he refused to see him again. He closed his eyes, his shaking hands still pressing a strong grip on the knob. His breath were instead pants of air, and they were barely audible. But he knew he could hear them.
He opened his eyes instantly when the sound of shattering glass followed by a piercing scream hit his ears.
And he soon regretted it.
He was there.
He saw him, as the light of a thunderbolt lighted his face, making it more visible.
He was looking at him with that penetrating stare of his.
The holes replacing his eyes were huge and frightening, his white face seemed even more white with his yellow brownish teeth. The huge, malevolous smile plastered on his face reached his eyes, and the silver of the knife stabbed in his forehead contrasted the blood draining from it.
He tried to run past him, but he was faster; and stronger. His hand reached and pulled from his leg, making him fall. As the monster dragged him further, his nails digging into his bare skin, his piercing screams echoing through the empty house. He tried to get away from his grip pulling and pushing his legs, trying to grab the floor in his hands; but both knew he wasn't going to achieve nothing from it.
As another scream lef this mouth the monster pulled him further into the other room.
He knew what would happen next...
The monster knew he knew...
But the monster knew better than to prove him right...
