Dear CRUSH

Chapter 4

My first class was Calculus and Miss Anna just decided to surprise the class with a pop quiz but I was always ready... wasn't I??.
The class were shocked about the quiz mostly Daniel,he was literally fuming and grumbling behind me. I had offered to tutor him countless times but he was just not serious and he has to pay the price now. The quiz was a piece of cake to me but the class was not happy with it even Maya,I glanced through the class as Miss Anna collected our script,Maya was not looking happy,I guess she was not ready for the quiz. Our next class was a practical one and each person needs a partner,my partner has always been Daniel but our Chemistry teacher decided to change partners,Monday is really filled with surprises and I hope there is more to come. Every surprise just seems to work for me,I was paired with Maya. My head was literally screaming and doing it's own happy dance,we are to share same lab table so we were sitting close to each other.
     She was quiet most of the times, except when she was answering questions or asking them. She was still not happy about the Calculus quiz,I was not comfortable with the silence.
"Hi Maya"I greeted
"Hi Jeremy,how are you doing?"
"I'm fine but am not sure I can say the same  about you"
"Argh,I was not expecting the pop quiz,am not really good at calculus either"
"Oh... really"
"Yea, calculus was not a compulsory subject in Turkey,so I dropped it"
"Okay,I can tutor you if you're interested"
"Really?"she asked,very surprised
"Sure,it would have been Daniel but he is not just serious"
She laughed,it felt nice that I could make her laugh
"Why did you leave Turkey anyways?"I asked
"My parents got divorced and Dad was transferred here"
"Oh,sorry about that"
"It's fine,am happy with dad"she smiled.

"I saw you talking to the new girl during practical,I did not know you guys were friends,are you ditching me J?"Daniel said
I laughed at his silly conclusion
"I wish"I said and he punched me
"Ouch,what was that for?"
"For ditching me cause of a girl"he replied, rolling his eyes.
I smiled, Daniel can be a pest but he is adorable.
"I walked with her on Friday,and she is my lab partner so it is not bad to make a relationship"I said, defending myself
"I hope it is more than just this"he whispered
I ignored him and walked to our usual lunch table,he was still going on and on about how pissed he was at the pop quiz. I ate my food in silence.
       After Lunch,we had P.E.I hate P.E,it should not be necessary for basketball players but it was. We had to do a race round the court,it was an easy task for most of the boys but it was not fun for the girls,it was actually fun to see most of them pa. Maya was an exception tho,it was amazing watching her,she was not as fast as the boys but she was faster than the girls.After the race,coach released us to freshen up. I ran to catch up with Maya
"Hey"
"Hi Jeremy, watsup?"
"I'm good,you did not tell me you were an athlete"
"Well,you did not ask"
"Really,which sport do you play"
"I play Tennis in Turkey"
"Wow"I said surprisingly
She laughed,"Alot of people find it hard to believe"
"I am finding it very hard to believe"
She laughed again," Anyways, Jeremy,see you later"
She walked into the girls bathroom and I turned to walk back to the boys.

Music was the last class for the day and it was not a compulsory subject for me. Another surprise for Monday,Maya plays the violin,so she was in music class and also in the school band. I find art very interesting,so I draw and paint sometimes. The music and art class were in a building close to the school theater,so the classes are opposite.
I had left class because of the noise,I wanted to be somewhere quiet and serene so I decided to head to the art class,I had a lot of unfinished drawings, something just seems missing and I can't figure it out,just end up ignoring it and drawing something else. The art class was empty as it was not an everyday lecture,I settled down to my previous diagram and had that same feeling of a missing piece. I took out a white plain canvas and opt to draw something else,am a lover of inanimate objects so that is what my drawings are always about. I began draw,I had no idea of what to draw but I know it would come out perfect as always
  

   Few minutes into my drawing,I heard violin playing from the music class. It was very soothing and it felt very different,like it was telling a story and feelings were poured into it. It really helped with my drawing cause I felt like I knew what I was doing. It suddenly stopped after I dropped my pencil,I stood, feeling satisfied when I looked at my diagram and it felt very complete, looking closely to discover I drew my Father. I was shocked and as well happy, this was the first animate I would even draw and knowing it was my father topped the excitement.
   

  The bell rang meaning the end of school for the day,I arranged my bag, taking a last look at the portrait before I decided to take it home knowing it would really surprise my mum. I strolled down the corridor to the parking lot to wait for Daniel,the portrait still in my hand,I saw Maya and remembered we have not even fixed time for the Calculus tutorial.

   Running to catch up with her, panting very hard as I reached her side. She looked up and smiled
"Hi Jeremy"
"Maya,you are really a fast walker and how did you not hear me call you"
She looked at the ipods in her hands,just taking notice of them,I sighed and said
"Just wanted to know if you were serious about the tutorial"
"Of course I am"she said looking at me straight in the eyes
"Uhmmm....I, I'm sorry"I stutter, looking away from her hazel green eyes
"I would be free Wednesday and Friday after school if that is fine with you"she said smiling
"We can use the City library"she added
"Okay,see you Wednesday then. Bye Maya" I walked away before I say anything stupid

  Daniel stared at me as I entered the car
"Are you okay?"he asked
"Yea"I said, scratching the tip of my nails
"You look tense and you only do that when you are nervous"referring to my hands
"I'm fine Daniel,can we just go already"
He quietly started the car and left the parking lot.
