"Please father? I need to do this. I want to make something of my life." Seong was just past his 18th birthday and the war over the 38th parallel had broken out six months before. "Please father, I want your blessing before I join to fight alongside the Americans. All that Haneul wanted to say was no. He couldn't bear to lose his son too. He started to shake his head, a saddened look on his face. "Father, please, I'm begging you. I don't want to leave without your support." Haneul looked at his son and there Seong looked back. Looking at him with those eyes. He saw something in them that he hadn't seen since that night. The night when his love told him what would make her happy, a child, and once again he couldn't say no. Not to Bora, and there was so much of her in her son. He conceded and it was set that in two weeks he would get on a ship head toward the war, fighting with the fire of his mother.
