Every other week after that, whenever he docked at the island of Sorok, he talked with her. She told him of how she had lost her family, all except her brother, in the past years and they talked about what she did on the island and they laughed and told stories. They went for walks along the beach and when the boat docked near sunset there was nothing more beautiful to him than the way that the orange hue of the sky reflected around her face. Eventually he reached out and held her hand, kissing it gently as they said goodbye, and one day, right there on the beach, he told her to close her eyes and he placed a locket around her neck. "Something for you to remember me by" he said. She grasped it in her hand and looked at him, "I don't need anything to remember you by, how could I ever forget." It never moved from her chest after that day.
He transferred jobs after months of courting her, and they moved into a little cottage on the island after they married, she had reservations, scared that she would make him sick, but he was stubborn. Nothing could ever keep him from her. Till death do they part.
