SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 27

FIRST PERSON

I fiddled with my hands as I walked back to our house. I got lost in my own thoughts thinking of the possibilities that could await us at home.

'What if he yells at us? Or kicks us out for good? What if he takes his anger out on us again? What if-' My train of thoughts were cut off as I felt a hand on my shoulder, looking up I noticed we were at home.

Shakily looking up at Michael, I see him looking at me with those same cold and dead eyes. Slowly opening his mouth, he spoke. "Stay behind me and stay quiet, I won't let anything happen to you."

Slowly nodding, I watched Michael open the door. The house looked less inviting than it did when we left. The lights were out giving it a creepy vibe.

Stepping inside, I grip on the back on Michael's shirt. I froze in place when I noticed Dad sitting in the living room, the tv light making a eerie outline of his body. Feeling Michael stop I do as well, I glanced up at him and saw how tense he looks.

"You wanted us home?" He spoke slowly, trying to keep a level voice.

Dad didn't say anything as he slowly turned his head towards us, his eyes were cold. Staring at us for a couple more seconds he turned away.

"You will start school tomorrow." His monotone voice rang out through the room. "Your rooms are finished, all thats left for you to do is unpack."

Michael's jaw clenched shut, he wasn't happy that he got called home for this. "Is that it, Father?" He seethed.

Dad took a single glance at us before focusing back on the TV. "Yes that's all. Now please go to your room, I don't want to see you until tomorrow."

Growling, Michael stomped off towards his room. I quickly follow behind, not wanting to anger dad.

Trailing behind Michael, I tried talking to him but he didn't listen. Slamming the door in my face I let out a sigh.

'I should just go to my room.'

Quietly closing my door, I took in my room. It wasn't anything interesting. A plain bed tucked into the corner of the room with a desk next to it, in front of it was a closet, boxes stacked next to it.

"I'll just unpack tomorrow..." I mumbled to myself. Changing into a clean pair of clothes, I sit on my bed. Dad doesn't want us out of our rooms until tomorrow so that means no dinner...again.

'I should just go to bed.'  With that thought placed in my head, I curl up under my covers. 'I start school tomorrow...'  Feeling myself smiling widely, I shove my face into my pillow.

'If I go to sleep tomorrow will come faster!' Tightly closing my eyes, I feel drowsiness start to hit me. Slowly falling asleep, I smile.

The house sat still, the people occupying it all in their own worlds. Each one having a different emotion running through their bodies.

Tomorrow is another day.

Tomorrow is another day
