Julia was getting ready for the movie night with Pedri, Ferran and Sira. She was running a little late. Pedri was supposed to be here in around five minutes, so she rushed through her makeup and hair as quickly as possible, hoping to finish before he got there. In the process of getting changed, there was an issue with trying to find her top and pants. Running around in her bra and underwear, the door unexpectedly opened because she had forgotten to lock it.
"Julia, why are you taking- oh shit!" she heard Pedri's voice behind her. She quickly whipped around, and her cheeks turned bright red.
"Sorry!" he apologized and covered his eyes with his hand.
"I'll be in the living room. Take your time", he babbled before shutting her door. Before she could say anything, she heard quick footsteps move away from the door. She couldn't help but laugh.
After getting changed, she trotted down the stairs to meet with him, "ready?" she asked.
He smiled sheepishly and nodded, "Yup".
"I'm looking forward to watching the movie with you tonight." Pedri said.
"I don't understand why you want to watch it with me. You always complained when I would watch Tangled."
"I am willing to watch it with you all the way through and find out why you love this movie so much." he said, smiling.
Julia smiled back at him. "Well, I appreciate that. And who knows, maybe you'll end up liking it too."
They made their way to Ferran's house, where the others were already gathered. As they walked in, Sira greeted them with a smile. "Hey guys, glad you could make it."
Ferran was in the kitchen, pouring drinks and setting out snacks.
As the movie began, Julia couldn't help but smile at the familiar scenes. She had watched Tangled so many times, but it felt different watching it with Pedri by her side.
"See, isn't this movie amazing?" she whispered, nudging his arm.
Pedri chuckled, "Okay, okay, I'll admit it's not that bad."
Pedri found himself getting more and more invested in the story. He had never really paid much attention to the plot before, but now he found himself rooting for Rapunzel and Flynn Rider to live happily ever after.
Julia was pleased to see him enjoying the movie, and she snuggled closer to him on the couch. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder, and they watched the rest of the film in comfortable silence.
As the credits began to roll, Julia turned to Pedri, "So, what did you think?"
"I have to admit, it was better than I remembered. I can see why you like it so much." Pedri replied, grinning.
"I knew you'd come around eventually," Julia teased. He shook his head at her teasing and picked up the soda cans and popcorn bowls anyway. She got up to shake the cushions and folding blankets quietly beside him.
The silence was too much to handle, so she blurted out without thinking:
"Hey I wanted to ask... Would you mind dropping me home? It looks like it's going to rain."
"After all, I'm already doing it for your brother, so adding more to my list won't make much of a difference." He said with a smirk.
"Well, I appreciate it, Chofer Pedri. Thank you. I just don't want to get caught in the rain and end up looking like a drowned rat." She said with a shrug and turned to him.
"Well, we should get going-" He was cut off by the thunder and her clutching onto his arm in fright. That came totally out of nowhere. Soon the light went out, and the whole room was illuminated by the flash of lightning.
He chuckled at her reaction. "Still scared of thunder, huh? Who would have thought, princesa?" She scowled at his amused expression and let go of his arm. He knew that storms tend to make her anxious, and she often panicked during lightning and thunder.
"You're both staying. I'm not risking anything." Sira yelled from the kitchen.
Julia changed into Sira's pyjamas and went to bed, fully expecting to fall asleep at any moment. Then she felt a soft kiss on her forehead, one that was a little longer than it should have been. She opened her eyes and glanced at Pedri, lightly smiling and placing a palm on her cheek before rising. He didn't want to disturb her sleep, so he just kissed her forehead. She couldn't stop thinking about it. It was small and gentle.
"Go back to sleep," he whispered to her. He and Ferran walked out of the room, looking at them. They chuckled as Julia and Sira made hearts with their hands to say goodnight.
Sira turned to Julia with a sly grin on her face.
"So, you and Pedri?" Sira teased.
Julia rolled her eyes. "For the love of god we're just friends, Sira. Besides, he's probably just feeling bad about walking in on me while I was changing clothes."
Sira cocked an eyebrow. "What! I'm just curious. Are you sure that's all there is to it? Because it appears to me that there is something more there."
Julia shook her head. "I think you're jumping to conclusions, Sira. Pedri and I are only friends, plain and simple."
"After what you two have been through, it's impossible to remain just friends," Sira muttered.
Julia closed her eyes again, disregarding her comment because deep down, she knew that Sira was partially correct. Julia was determined to maintain their friendship and not let things become more complicated than they once were. However, for now, Julia pushed those thoughts aside and allowed herself to drift off into a peaceful slumber, feeling as content and carefree as a sleeping baby.
