Four long years have passed since Julia Soler Gavira and Pedri González parted ways in a messy breakup. Julia has since been travelling the world and pursuing her graduate studies in the United States. But now, she's returning to Barcelona for a spe...
A couple of mornings later, Pedri found himself back at the coffee shop where he had first met Julia. Memories flooded his mind when he walked inside. This was their place, the spot where they had shared countless conversations and laughter. He never thought he would find her here talking again to some guy. Pedri felt jealous as he watched Julia laughing and chatting with the stranger. He tried to shake off the feeling, reminding himself that he had no right to feel possessive over her. But he couldn't help it. Having met Julia again, Pedri felt a deep connection with her that reignited old feelings he didn't think still existed, and the mere thought of her being with someone else made him feel nauseous.
He ordered his usual drink and took a seat at a table near the window, trying to keep his eyes off Julia and the guy she was talking to. But his gaze kept flickering back to them, and he couldn't help but overhear snippets of their conversation.
"So what brings you here, Liam?" Julia asked, taking a sip of her coffee.
"Babe, your concert is on friday, I wouldn't miss it for the world. How is rehearsal going?" Liam replied, smiling warmly.
Pedri couldn't help but wonder who this guy was and why he was with Julia. He couldn't watch her with someone else. He turned around and walked out of the coffee shop, feeling a knot forming in his stomach.
As he walked aimlessly down the street, he couldn't shake the feeling of jealousy and sadness that had taken over him. He wondered how long they had been together. Had Julia moved on so quickly? The thought made him feel even more upset, but he knew he couldn't just assume the worst.
Suddenly, his phone buzzed in his pocket, interrupting his thoughts. He glanced at the screen and saw a text from Julia.
[ Julia ] Hey, are you okay? You seemed upset when you left the coffee shop.
Pedri hesitated for a moment before typing a reply, unsure how she had seen him.
[ Pedri ] Yeah, I'm fine. Just had some stuff on my mind.
He didn't want to tell her the truth. He didn't want her to know how jealous he was feeling.
Julia replied almost instantly.
[ Julia ] Okay, well, if you want to talk about it, I'm here.
He didn't reply to her message. Instead, he just tossed his phone into his pocket and walked home.
Pedri tried to shake off the feeling of jealousy and sadness that had consumed him. He knew he had no right to feel that way about Julia. She was free to talk to whomever she wanted, and it wasn't fair of him to expect her to wait for him.
But as he reached his apartment, he couldn't help but feel a sense of longing for Julia. He missed her company and the way she made him feel alive.
He sat down on his couch, trying to distract himself by turning on the TV. But his mind kept drifting back to Julia, and he couldn't focus on anything else.
Finally, he decided to text her back.
[ Pedri ] Thanks for the offer, but I think I just need some time to process things on my own.
He knew he was being distant, but he needed to sort out his feelings before he could talk to her again. Pedri knew he had to push his jealousy aside and focus on building a genuine friendship with her. Although he knew his heart would always belong to her.
Julia replied almost immediately.
[ Julia ] Okay, I understand. Just know that I'm here for you whenever you need me. By the way, I have a concert tomorrow. If you'd like, you're more than welcome to come.
Julia waited for a response from Pedri, but after a few minutes of silence, she realized he wasn't going to reply. She sighed, feeling disappointment sweep over her. She had hoped they could talk about whatever was bothering him and work through it together.
But she knew Pedri needed his space, and she respected that. She decided to focus on her upcoming concert and pour her energy into her music. Maybe Pedri would come to the show, and they could reconnect afterwards...
