Four years later"Tsireya!" Mi'reya shouted as she ran into the girl's muri, trying to catch her breath from running across the village.
The young girl was weaving the sea's treasures into her basket as she looked at her friend, dropping down the basket and walking towards her friend, who was barely holding herself together.
"What's wrong, Reya?" Tsireya questioned as her brows furrowed in worry, steadying her friend, who was still trying to catch her friend. However, to the girl's surprise, Mi'reya quickly grabbed her hand and started calling out for her ilu.
"Newcomers! Toruk Makto and his family have come here! We must be quick if we don't want to miss it," the girl shouted, turning around to see Tsireya's eyes widen in excitement as she, too, began calling for her ilu.
The two girls quickly dived into the water, their ilu's swimming underneath them as they bonded and sped off towards the newcomers, both girls curious as to why they were here.
It didn't take long for them to get to the newcomers, only to see Ao'nung and Rotxo circling the family as if they were prey, laughing and picking on their bodies. Mi'reya rolled her eyes at their immature behavior but was also curious as to why the family looked so different from them. Their skin was coated in a much darker shade of blue, and their eyes were golden like the sun.
It intrigued Mi'reya, especially when the family looked at her and Tsireya as they dived from their ilus'.
The two girls swam out of the water, their eyes noting everything about the new family. Mi'reya especially noticed how the younger boy was gawking at Tsireya, the other girl in a trance, as she looked at the boy. She giggled behind her hand at the situation, only to find the boy, who stood taller beside the younger one, laughing at the apparent tense atmosphere. They shared smiles, side-eyeing the situation.
Mi'reya's eyes quickly darted towards Rotxo and Ao'nung and slapped them both on their arms, her eyes narrowing. "Stop it, Rotxo, Ao'nung," she hissed, glaring at the Ao'nung a second longer than at Rotxo, annoyance now seeping through her.
"Do not tell me what to do," Ao'nung hissed back at her, his tone quiet as he glared at Mi'reya, the girl upholding his stare.
"I will if you act like an idiot," she snapped before turning to the new family, wary of why they were here but smiled kindly nonetheless, knowing they must have felt uncomfortable with all the piercing eyes.
"Hey," the younger boy breathed out as he looked at Tsireya, his eyes filled with awe. Tsireya only giggled at the boy as Mi'reya nudged her lightly with her elbow teasingly.
"Hi," Mi'reya said, all eyes turning to her. The girl paid them no mind, having been used to them by now, especially since they always seemed to follow her when she was with him. "How can we help you?"
The man that Mi'reya had realized to be Toruk Makto walked towards her. "We are searching for your Olo'eyktan and Tsahik. Tonowari and Ronal," he explained as Mi'reya nodded in understanding. She was about to respond when she turned to see their clan leaders riding on their skimwings, followed by Mi'reya's father - Tonowari's oldest and closest friend.
They glided above everyone as they landed in the shallow waters, walking towards the family.
"I see you, Tonowari," Toruk Makto and his family greeted the Olo'eyktan.
"Jake Sully," Tonowari reincorporated the gesture, paying his respects to the rest of the family.
Behind him, Ronal walked forwards, her eyes narrowing at the Omatikaya. Mi'reya didn't blame her. The woman was calculating and strategic, always fighting for the safety of their clan. She understood why; well, she had to know if she was to be the next Tsahik - something she was forced to do by her father.
