Hey, look! I'm about to give you a decent sized update! And then I'm going to work on "Caught Up" because I'm letting poor Ryenn down. D:
Before the update, though, I want to give you guys a little recap. Since this is a "mystery" and it's being posted piece by piece, I wanted to be sure everybody is clear on everything. So here are a few bullet points to remind you of key events. Feel free to skip them if you have a photographic memory (or just a better memory than I :p ).
1. Trenton McDermott killed Dean Mosby in the Prologue.
2. Trent was hired by a mystery person to kill Bethany. He met with the person's associate, Markob Jakobie in his private office.
3. Bethany told Hunter where she was going and why, even though Jeremy Willakers told her not to.
4. Amanda and Hunter are becoming besties in their spare time (Hunter is still on tour). Amanda has begun smoking, cut her hair off, and is getting "friendly" (wink wink) with her ex boyfriend (jerk) Matt Rutland's best friend Markob Jakobie.
If there's anything else that I forgot that seems important, I'll add it to the next update (whenever it shall be).
As always, please leave me a comment and vote on this chapter! I'd also love if you guys followed me, because then you'll get loads of awesome new stories and stuff! :D
You guys rule, and thank you so much for sticking around!
God Bless and Happy Reading!
"Ah, Bethany!" Agent Willakers stood from his desk and passed his hand over to her to shake. His sunglasses, as ever, concealed his eyes, and his black suit was pressed and shiny as a new penny. He did not smile, but his tone was warmer than she had ever heard. He seemed to grow upon acquaintance, and she hoped that her bit of news would brighten his mood even further.
"Jeremy," she answered, taking her normal seat beside Reese Thereon. As always, he was mostly there to observe. He would sit next to her or linger in the corner, but he was always there. The one time she had asked about his presence, Jeremy had assured her it was simply a protocol of the FBI. Something about having a witness to every consultation.
"I have some information for you," Bethany continued, pulling a stack of papers out of her tote bag. They were paper-clipped together, and she passed them across the desk to Mr. Willakers as she continued saying, "I found a manila folder in Trenton's private office last night with these names in it. I thought they were all just actor profiles, but when I searched the names on the internet, I found that they were not just actors, but plumbers, scientists...there wasn't much of a connection between them at all."
And my name...it was at the top of the stack. What does that mean?
Jeremy sifted through the information she had laid before him, sheets she had printed off the internet the night before. His body language showed no surprise, but she had grown to expect that of all of these FBI people. They all seemed totally emotionless, as though they were trained to be stoic so as not to give anything away.
"Very good, Ms. James. This is good information. This name...Dean Mosby. Do you recognize it?"
Bethany nodded.
"Yes, sir. When I saw it in the stack, I knew it sounded familiar, but it wasn't until I got back and starting looking people up that I figured out where I'd seen him before."
