Chapter 2

They mostly drive in silence, Theo was holding Vic's left hand and rubbing it with his thumb. It was quiet until Vic just started crying. "What's wrong, sweetheart?" Theo asks Vic while also trying not to cry. "What if I am losing our baby? It's my fault if we do. I should have stopped working on Aid Car. And... I.." Vic is immediately cut off by Theo. "Victoria, it isn't your fault if we lose the baby. You did absolutely nothing wrong. I promise you with all my heart." They finally arrive at the hospital, ten minutes later. They check in and sends them to the OB waiting room which is upstairs. As they are waiting to get taken into a room by Carina, Theo sees that Vic needs some comfort so he puts one of his hands on her leg that is bouncing up and down and says "Vic? Look at me. Are you okay?" Theo asks Vic. "I don't know. I just need confirmation from Carina if it is true or not." A couple minutes later, Carina pops into the waiting room. "Victoria." Carina says to Vic as she pulls her into a hug. "Can we just get this scan done and over with?" "Of course. Follow me into a room." Both Vic and Theo followed Carina into a room. Vic then hops up onto the table and lays down on the table. Carina then lifts up Vic's shirt and squirts the gel onto her stomach. Theo just stood there holding Vic's hand and just comforting her. Carina was moving the prob around Vic's stomach and couldn't find a heartbeat. Everybody's eyes were on the screen to see if the baby was still alive and if there was a heartbeat. Sadly, there wasn't a heartbeat. "I'm so sorry, Vic and Theo but... there isn't a heartbeat. Vic, I'm afraid that you had a miscarriage." Vic then starts to sob. "There isn't anything we can do for you except send you home. I would suggest taking it easy for about 5-7 days. Let me get you your discharge papers and then you will be free to go." As soon as Carina walks out of the room, Vic then starts to sob even more then she already was. "Hey. It's alright, baby. I got you. Shhhh. You're okay." Theo says to Vic as he pulls her into a hug and then pulls up a chair next to the table and sits next to Vic. "It's all my fault. I should have stopped working on Aid Car and just went on maternity leave." "It's not your fault, Victoria. I promise you." Theo says to Vic while holding her hands and gives it a kiss. Carina then walks in to give Vic her discharge papers. "Hey. Here are your discharge papers. Take Tylenol and Ibuprofen to help reduce the pain. The bleeding should last for one-two days and if the blood is super heavy, then come back here. Again, I am so sorry for your loss. You two are always welcome at mine and Maya's house. Well, try to have a good night and get some sleep. Once Again, so sorry for your loss." Carina says to Vic and Theo as she puts a hand on Vic's shoulder and holds the door open for Vic and Theo. As soon as they get to the car, Vic just starts to cry. "Baby, it's okay. You're alright. I got you. Just cry and get it out." Theo says to Vic as he pulls her closer to him. "I can't believe that I lost the baby. We were both so excited to become parents and I screwed it up." "You did not screw it up, Vic. Things happen sometimes for no reason. I promise you that it is not your fault. Ready to head home?" Theo asks Vic as he gives her a kiss on the cheek. "Yeah. I just really want to go back to bed." "Well, when we get home, you can get right back into bed and I will give you a lot of cuddles." The drive home is very quiet. Once they get home, Theo helps Vic get into the house as she has bad cramps. As soon as Vic walks into the bedroom, she is so happy to see her bed. "I will be right back. I'm going to get you the heating pad and some Tylenol. You just sit tight." Theo says to Vic after he helps get her into bed. "Okay." As soon as Theo comes back into the bedroom, Vic just starts to cry some more. "Honey, it's okay. I'm right here with you." Theo then decides to take off his shoes and get into bed with Vic and pulls her closer to him. "I'm sorry. It's just that my hormones are all of the place." "It's okay, baby. I 100% understand. You want to try to get some sleep? I will not leave your side for the next couple of days. I promise. Victoria Elizabeth Hughes." Theo says to Vic as he gives her another kiss on the forehead." "I might try to get some sleep. I love you so much, Theo." "I love you too, Vic."
