Tsireya sat in the healer's pod with her mother Ronal.
Tsireya was training with her mother to be a Tsahìk. She had to learn what plant was safe and what was not. Ronal watched as her daughter was happily cutting the herbs in the bowl.
She noticed a beautiful blue-green flower on her daughter's ear. Tsireya hadn't worn that flower since she was little. Her father had given it to her, which she gladly took saying how pretty she was.
"That is not how you cut them." Ronal told her daughter and she took the knife and showed her how to cut it properly.
"There." Ronal showed Tsireya, who nodded before copying her mother, cutting the herbs better than what she did before.
"So what's going on between you and that forest boy?" Ronal asked and Tsireya stopped almost cutting her head, and she looked at her mother.
"Who. Neteyam or Lo'ak?" She asked and Ronal looked at her." That Zeti boy, the eldest child?" She asked and Tsireya looked down, not meeting her mother's gaze.
"Nothing is going on, mother." She told her mother as she went back to go cutting the herbs. Once she was done, she put them in a bigger bowl.
"I heard that he is a warrior in his clan, a very strong one." Ronal said as Tsireya nodded, not thinking nothing of it." I talked to his mother about him having a potential mate." Tsireya shot up and started at her mother in disbelief.
"What?" Tsireya asked, looking as Ronal put water on the herbs before stirring them together." He is 16 now, soon in two years he will be old enough to be mate, maybe sooner." Ronal said as she put the medicine in a cup.
Tsireya prayed that her mother didn't make a deal with Zeti's parents on finding a mate, just to be official in the clan.
"So, who do you think would be worthy enough to be his mate?" Tsireya asked her mother. She hoped that her mother didn't find one for him. The last thing she needed was to compete with someone else for his love.
"We haven't found anyone yet. We are hoping to find someone who is at least a few months or a few weeks younger than him." Ronal told her as Tsireya frowned, she was probably a year younger than him.
"We are done for today." Ronal said as Tsireya got up from her spot and followed her mother to a wounded woman. Tsireya watched as her mother gave the woman some herbs to help with her pain.
"Thank you, Tsahìk." The woman said as Ronal nodded. She helped the woman out the door before looking at her daughter." You are free to go, attend to your next class." She told her daughter, who nodded at her before walking out of the pod.
Tsireya thought about what her mother said. If what she said was true, and they were going to find a mate for him. She needed to be the first one to get to him before they can make their final decision.
