*-*Louis*-*

After having been poked and prodded for a few hours, the doctor decided to take my "complete blood count", whatever that meant. He also mentioned a bone marrow test if that was inconclusive. After all of the "examining" was done, he let me lay down in the bed and relax. I looked over at him and mumbled.

"Can I...Can I see H-Harry and the b-boys?"

He sighed and nodded.

"I'd rather you sleep for a bit, but if that is what you would prefer, I can send them in."

I just nodded and laid back, staring up at the ceiling. A few minutes later, I heard many feet thudding against the ground getting closer and closer to my door. A gentle knock sounded through the hospital room before the door slowly creaked open. Harry's head peaked through before the door opened more to reveal Niall and Liam behind him. Then I saw a girl with them. She had colored hair and she was very pretty. I didn't recognize her at all. Niall spoke up first.

"Hey, Louis. How ya doin?"

I smiled slightly at him.

"I'm alright, N-Ni."

They all just stood in the doorway looking at me. Looking at me as if they were afraid to come closer.

"You guys..can come in you know?"

They looked at each other before slowly filing into the room and standing around my bed. I force another smile, my body hurting still.

"So...I take it you've already heard? And who is this, if you don't mind me asking?"

Niall and Liam looked over to her as well.

"Niall and I had the same question, actually. Harry?"

The girl looked up shyly, blushing. Harry patted her on the head.

"This," he gestures to her, "is Scarlett. She's a friend I made while we were waiting to see if you were alright."

He smiles widely at me, proud of his ability to make friends. I nod, smiling back.

"Well, hello then S-Scarlett. Any friend of Harry's is a f-friend of mine!"

I force a chuckle and extend my arm (which, by the way is quite sore from having blood drawn) out to her. She looks hesitant.

"I'd hug you if I were able too. But," I look down a bit, "I'm kinda having a d-difficult time moving my body too much right now."

She looks at my hand for another moment before shaking it lightly.

It was quite again for a moment and I looked around at everyone.

"So how are you all?"

They looked at me as if I was crazy. (Which I guess isn't hard to assume.)

"How are we? How are you, Louis?"

Liam was the first to speak. I thought about that question for a minute.

How am I? I most likely have cancer. If not, there's still something very wrong with me. How am I? How am I? Dying? Is that an acceptable answer? Probably not. I don't want to worry them or anything. Maybe I'll just say that I'm fine... But we all know that I'm not. Not even close. I'm not okay. I'm not fine. I'm very sick and nobody knows how bad it is yet. We can all agree, however, on one thing. I'm. Not. Okay.
