After beer number three I started tipping most of them on the floor when no one was looking. The taste, the smell, I just can't stomach it.
I'm trying to talk to Ty's friends but I don't understand all of the car talk and I've decided I'm too tired for friends."Hey, I think I'm going to call an Uber, I'm pretty tired" I pull on Ty's jacket sleeve to pull his attention away from the group.
"I'll give you a ride come on" he takes my hand and starts pulling me towards the car.
"Ermm.. Ty I don't think you should drive" he's on at least his eighth drink, probably more, and he can barely walk in a straight line.
"I'm fine, come on get in" he insists, still guiding me to the car.
"Ty, I really don't want you to drive me home" I try to stand my ground for the second time tonight. Big girl pants on.
"Well if you're tired, we can always sleep in my car... or we could not sleep" he stands in front of me, my back to the car, both of his hands on the car on either side of my head, as he wiggles his eyebrows suggestively.
Oh I see where he's going with this."Ty, I'm going to call an Uber" I say firmly, trying to step away and create a little distance between us.
"Come on Scarlett, I thought you'd be more fun." He stays unmoving, practically trapping me against his car, clearly not taking the hint at how uncomfortable I am right now.
"Well then I guess I'm no fun, because I'm leaving" I try again but he doesn't shift.
"Ty, get off me"I can feel my chest tightening as I realise he's not budging.
Before he can say anymore, Ty is suddenly ripped away from me. I immediately take a step forwards, giving myself to breathe. It was Finn. He was holding Ty by the back of his collar.
"Piss off Ty" he sneers as he shoves him back towards his friends."You alright?" He asks, a hint of concern in his almost unfazed expression.
I just nod in response, still attempting to steady my breathing.
"I'll take you home" he states tipping his head in the direction of his jeep.
"I've not been drinking" he confirms, picking up on my apprehension."What's your problem?" Ty asks Finn, stupidly blocking our path.
"I'm not the one with a problem" Finn returns, appearing unfazed by the challenge in Ty's eyes, but I notice him tensing slightly as he steps in front of me.
"Why don't you leave us alone mate, I'm sure she'd much rather get in my car than your piece of shit" he laughs, nodding towards his precious car.
Finn smirks as he takes the bottle from Ty's hand and launches it through his car window.
Ty just stands there in shock.
So do I, until Finn places his hand on my lower back and gently guided me away.I follow him to his car, still apparently unable to form a sentence. He opens the passenger side door and I climb inside.
"Thank you" I finally whisper as he turns the key in the ignition. He offers a small smile with a nod of his head before diverting his attention to Ty, shooting a harsh glare his way.
The drive back to my place was silent. A million thoughts racing through my head.
I was no fun. I mean, most teenage girls would probably jump at the chance to fool around with a good looking guy at a party. Right? What would I know. I know I've just blown my only chance at making friends. I don't think I wanted them as friends anyway."Are you sure you're okay?" Again I'd failed to notice that we had come to a stop. Finn's brows were drawn together now with a strong mix of concern and anger.
Was he angry with Ty or with me? I interrupted his night."Scarlett" his voice was firm but gentle, reminding me I hadn't actually answered him.
"Sorry... yes I'm okay" I reassure him.
"Erm, thank again, for the ride and... for well, before" I rub my hand on the back of my neck, before quickly jumping out of the jeep before I say anything stupid.I walked up the path to the front door, his headlights lighting the way. He hasn't left yet. I start fumbling with my keys feeling the pressure of him watching me.
I finally get through the door and offer a small wave before locking it behind me. I snuck a glance out of the window and saw him finally reversing back onto the road.
He remembered where I lived. It just dawned on me that I didn't give him the address.
