Chapter 2 : The Angel

"It's your best friend, Harumi!" He says, oblivious to the sudden shift in (Name)'s demeanor.

(Name) felt her heart breaking at his answer. Sure, she wasn't expecting him to say it was her but to know that he has a crush on her best friend of all people hurt the most.

Don't get her wrong. Her best friend, Watanabe Harumi is nothing short of perfection in her eyes. Harumi has always been a kind soul who love to help those around her and nice even to those who are undeserving of her kindness.

She's what many describe as angel on earth, beautiful inside and out. As much as it hurts to admit it, Harumi is a great match for Aki.

"What's wrong (Name)-chan? you started zoning out after I told you bout' my crush" Came Aki's smooth voice snapping her out of her thoughts.

Realizing that she had been ignoring her friend, (Name) quickly collect herself and cheered for him. She is genuinely happy for him even though it's not her he's infatuated with.

"Harumi? man you got good taste. I would beat you up though if you hurt her heh.. " She tried to crack a joke to lighten up her dampen mood.

Aki laughed and pat her head, she feels the butterflies flap its wings in her stomach from his touch alone.

'Ugh.. stupid feelings' she grumbles in her head.

She may have given up on the fantasy of Aki liking her back but she still liked him. Feelings don't go away in instant otherwise she wouldn't be flustered over a simple headpat from Aki.

Okay, there's a small hope in her heart that she can make Aki like her back. Probably just her coping and not wanting to let him go.

"Don't worry I'll make sure to take care of her like a true gentleman!" He says proudly with his head held up high.

"Heh you better" (Name) teased him with a playful punch on the shoulder.

The two then proceed to spend the rest of their lunch period talking about random stuff that happened throughout the day.

After the bell rung, Aki and (Name) went off to their respective classes. They only were in separate classes due to Aki being placed into a 'special' class for his outstanding academics.

(Name) didn't mind much though since she share the same class with her best friend, Harumi.

"(Name) Hey!!" Ah, speak of the devil- or in this case the angel.

Harumi's long pastel pink hair made her stood out amongst the crowded hall filled with students. Her brown irises glimmered with happiness at the sight of her friend, (Name).

"Harumi! gosh how did you even manage to find me in this huge crowd?" She asked as Harumi catch up to her and were walking side by side with her.

"Hehehe how can I ever miss my amazing best friend? you stood out like a sore thumb!" Ironic considering Harumi's the one who's practically glowing like a star. (Name)'s thankful though for her compliment.

"Anyway! have you seen the latest episode on that show? I stayed up late last night marathoning through the whole season and now I have panda eye..uhuk" Harumi slinked their arms together and dramatically laid her head on the (H/C) girl shoulder.

"You mean (F/S)? hmm no I haven't gotten around it yet" Truth be told, (Name) has been busy with school and her time for relaxing has been scarce.

"What? Now I'm scared that I'll accidentally spoiled it for you.." Harumi cried comically into her hand.

The conversation fall to an end once they reach their classroom. Mx Kaede, their homeroom teacher was already at their desk as they enter and gave the two girls a sharp glare.

Both (Name) and Harumi sweatdropped at their moody teacher. There's a plenty of empty seats left in the class meaning that other students haven't arrived yet and they were only late by 2 minutes.

Other than that, the lesson flew by quickly and before they knew it school is over for the day. Groups of student exited the classroom in a hurry leaving Harumi and (Name) alone.

"Say Harumi.. what's your opinion on Aki?" (Name) blurted out the question suddenly.

"You mean Shimada-kun from 3-A? hmm.."

The pink haired girl continues packing her belongings but pondered on the question. (E/C) watch her every move like a hawk.

"I think he's a great guy, pretty good looking if I'm being honest. Ooh he's really smart too so it's a bonus and he treats everyone nicely too" Harumi shouldered the straps of her red backpack on and tilt her head to the side.

"Why do you ask?" dotted brown eyes blinked at her in a confused mannerism.

While (Name) agrees with all of her points about Aki, it felt weird hearing it from someone else. She felt sharp stab of pain from her words. Without she even knowing it, blood was drawn from her balled up fist.

"Nothing.. but do you like him?" Her heart thundered in her chest, fearing for the answer.

Harumi's cheeks warmed up at the mention of her tiny crush on Aki. She was not planning to tell anyone about it but since (Name) had mention itㅡ why not tell her?

(Name)'s her best friend. She's going to support her right? It's not like the (H/C) girl liked Aki too right?

Right?

"...yes"
