Beverly invited over the entire losers club and this girl named Meg that she met at school. The two girls finished setting up the drinks at the counter and there was a knock on the door. With a second to think Beverly rushed to it.
"Heyyy." She said, welcoming in Ben and Eddie. The two walked in and sat on the couch, Eddie being cautious for who knows what.
Next arrived Richie who brought three bottles of Vodka. He said he 'found them somewhere' but everyone knew he stole them.
Next arrived Stan and Mike, and Kat really didn't want to talk to Stan. She quickly hid in the kitchen and pretended to check the fridge.
Last arrived Meg, and Beverly introduced all the boys to her when Bill arrived.
The redhead walked into the kitchen.
"Hey Kat, come out here.""Um, yeah I just need to grab someth-" Kat stalled before Beverly grabbed the fridge door and shut it.
"Look, I know something is going on between you and Stan. Okay? You guys are always looking at each other weird or whispering. I've pushed you enough, so I won't ask what it is, but you can't just ignore everyone because of it." She stated, grabbing Kat's hand. "Now come on. I want to introduce you to Meg."
The girls walked into the living room and said hi to some of the boys before she brought Kat to Meg.
"Meg, this is my friend Kat." Beverly said. "Kat, this is my... Meg."
"Does everyone here have short names too? I mean Eds, Stan, Bev, Richie, Bill, Kat?" Meg joked.
"Pretty much everyone but Ben and Mike." Beverly shrugged. "We just call them Ben. And Mike. Occasionally, Richie calls him Mikey." Meg nods and looks into the living room.
"They're safe, right?" She asks, crossing her arms. Kat raised an eyebrow.
"Why do you mean safe?" She asks.
"Yes they're safe, Meg. Richie may, I mean, will definitely, make jokes but otherwise, we're all good." Beverly responded and Kat stood confused.
The two girls went to sit down on the sofa, Kat standing in the corner and wondering what Meg meant...
"Attention everyone." Beverly shouted. "I want you all to know that Meg...is my girlfriend."
Everyone was quiet and Eddie was the first to speak.
"Congrats?"
Richie started to open his mouth but Beverly cut him off. "Therefore no jokes should ever come from Richie's mouth about our relationship. Okay?"
"She said come." Richie laughed and Eddie swatted his arm. Everyone got back to talking and Kat turned her head to see Stan glancing at her.
He stood up and walked over to Kat, keeping eye contact.
"Why'd you leave so early?" He asked."I didn't want to cause anymore trouble." Kat replied. "And don't call me Trina. It's weird."
"I only did becau- Okay." He said, crossing his arms. "Um, can we talk?"
"Aren't we?"
"Yeah, okay. Um," Stan muttered. "Can we just be cool again?"
Kat's silence told him to continue talking.
"I miss us. I miss hanging out, just you and me." He said. "And if you don't want to be in a relationship that's fine."
"We're cool." Kat said. "We're fine."
"Then why do you get so upset when I care about you?" Stan asked in a whisper.
"Because, Stan, I don't need sympathy. And I don't want someone to only like me out of pity or to romanticize what's happened to me."
Stan shook his head. "You have to let me care. You have to trust me."
"I trust you?" Kat scoffed.
"Good. Because Mary helped me sign you into a Therapist." Stan said, leaning on the doorframe beside them.
"I- you, you what?" Kat stuttered.
"You just have to confirm that it's okay." He said. Kat shook her head.
"It's not. I'll be fine."
"No, you won't. You can't hold in your feelings forever, Kat."
"What if I do?"
"Then you'll live in your own head for the rest of your life."
