Life could change in a heartbeat. Babies were born. People passed on. Some decided to end their lives in a second while others decided to turn theirs around. It was a vicious little world that people lived in.
One little thing could change someone's mind as well. A smile or a sneer could be a make or break for someone. Izzie had thought about that. Different things must just affect different people.
For her, it had been a letter.
A letter with scribbles and ink-stains all over it. It had been wrinkled and probably nearly tossed out several times. A letter that a nerdy teenage guy had written her.
Izzie could remember staring at it like it was a foreign creature. She didn't know how to react to that. A declaration of love for her. No one had ever done such a thing or explained to her how to feel about one.
She re-read it over and over again, trying to find a mistake. This couldn't be true, it couldn't be.
" Hey babe" A voice broke her out of her flashback " re-reading those again, huh? I had the worst penmanship back then."
She smiled, standing up " yeah, you did . But you wanna know something, 'Lex."
Her husband smiled " What is that?"
" It managed to save my life."
