Nancy spun around Lantern's Coffee Shop counter with two tall lattes in her hands and briskly approached my table. She placed one in front of me as she sat in the opposite chair. A grin lifted her lips. "Deets," she said.

I bit my lip. How could I go into detail? I backed out. Not entirely, but as soon as we got close, as soon as I felt his excitement between my legs, I panicked. What if I scared him away somehow? What if this was too good to be true?

She leaned back into her leather seat and sipped from her cup. "Camila."

I sighed. "Okay, he came over again."

"And?" Her brows lifted.

"We kissed." I cupped my fingers around the cup. Of course, Nancy's jaw dropped, and she looked like she would complain but I quickly lifted my hand. "We got closer, okay? Like, we were on my couch. And then I was sitting on him. The heat was there, we had already eaten dinner, so we got close."

Nancy took a long sip from her cup. "You sat on him."

I nodded.

Her brows shot up. "With clothes."

"Ma'am," I laughed, "I think we've established throughout our entire relationship that I always run away from these situations." I shrugged. "I'm afraid I'll mess up a good thing. I don't want to ruin it by moving so fast."

"Moving fast." Nancy took another sip. "You're scared." She cocked a brow. "Don't be."

I looked down at my latte. That's exactly what it was. I was scared. Reece and I connected over a story and discovered we had so much in common. It wasn't every day that someone so close to my personality, my interest, and our thoughts aligned. I wasn't prepared to take a chance that could potentially take a drastic turn. I didn't want that.

"Okay, look," Nancy put her latte down and sucked her teeth, "I'm not telling you to take my approach. Don't freaky, freaky every man you see."

"I know." I trailed my finger over the rim of my foam cup. "I'm not saying I would. I just, the sexual tension is there, I feel it, and when I sit next to him, I react." I sighed as I thought of his grin. "Every part of me burns and I just—"

I looked around the shop. It felt like someone could eavesdrop. I knew I wasn't loud, my voice wasn't stretching or reaching the corners of the establishment. This was my insecurities manifesting.

"Just take your time. See what happens the next time you're with each other." Nancy raised her hands. "Let it flow and see where it goes."

Those were some wise words. "That's some good advice." I smiled at her. "I think I can do that."

"Good." Nancy lifted her cup again. "Now I want deets next time."

I laughed. That was fair.

I couldn't get Reece out of my head. His voice. His touch. His kiss. I sat on my bed with my laptop on my lap, I stared at my word count. Twenty thousand. If I wasn't at the halfway point before, I felt like I was now. I neared the completion of chapter nineteen; I used the peaceful, romantic, heated moment between us for my characters. It was beautiful. Reece did feed the idea.

"Is it too late?" I whispered to myself, pulling my phone from beside me to look at my saved notes. And as much as I thought it was too early, it didn't look like I could push the plot further to stretch it.

Biting my lip, I wracked my brain. The look of confusion had to have been on my face because Franny jumped on the bed next to me and purred. Her whiskers tickled my cheeks enough that I giggled, glancing at her. "Are you here to make me feel better?"
