Dumbledore was right. Willow checked the mailbox as soon as she got back, and there it was. Her Hogwarts letter. Sitting peacefully in the mailbox with about 2 dozen other pieces of mail. She grabbed it all, and lugged it inside. When she finally waddled into the kitchen, she plopped it all down on the counter, grabbed her letter and went into her room.
"Thank god." She whispered, as she opened the letter. "Ready Olaf?" Willow began to read the letter out loud.
"Dear Willow Jackson,
Please be reminded that you must board the Hogwarts Express as usual from King's Cross Platform 9 ¾ for prompt departure on September the first at 09:34" She then looked over the list of supplies she will need for this term, and quickly wrote a letter to Sage and Bela saying that she got her letter- it was just in the mailbox the whole time. Willow sealed the letter, and handed it off to Olaf to be delivered.
She then went back into the kitchen to get herself something for lunch. She settled on some leftover pumpkin pastries from Dumbledore's dinner party last week. She made sure that Dumbledore wasn't home yet, and then took the platter into the living room and put on a muggle film. Willow had always been fascinated with human ideology, and technology- especially music, and musical movies. She put on one of her favorites- "Tick, Tick...Boom"
Later That Day...
Dumbledore arrives home just as Willow is finishing her movie. She sees him out the window and waves her hand at the door to open it for him.
"Ahh what are we watching tonight?" Dumbledore asked, as he walked gracefully into the house.
"Tick, Tick...Boom" Willow replied.
"Ah yes, your favorite." He remembered. "Did you find your letter?" He mocked.
"Yes, I did." She rolled her eyes at her dad.
At that moment Olaf flew in the window with a letter tied to his foot. Willow untied the letter, and got up and she gave Olaf a dead rat she killed that morning for his dinner. She sat back down on the couch, and read the letter.
"DAD!" She yelled upstairs loudly. Dumbledore was changing, and being that far away (more than 8 feet) he was basically def. "Sage and Cedric are going to Diagon Alley tomorrow to get their new books- can I go?"
Dumbledore waddled out of his room in his nightgown and sleeping cap, "Repeat that?" He asked.
Willow repeated the question once more, and after her dad said yes, she quickly scribbled a note to Sage accepting the invitation, this time using Dumbledore's spare owl (Sebastian) to deliver the message, giving Olaf a much-needed break, and changed into her pajamas and went to bed.
~The Next Morning~
Willow was awoken by a blood-screeching noise coming from downstairs. She threw on a sweatshirt, and ran downstairs to see what it was. It was Dumbledore, who once again, was failing to make tea by hand.
"Ummm, can you please turn that off??" She yelled over the noise, fingers in her ears.
"Trust me, I'm trying!" He yelled back.
Willow snapped her fingers, making the sound dull so she could tell her dad what to do. Once she did, he succeeded in making the kettle stop screeching. Willow looked at the clock, and panicked, realizing that she only had 15 minutes before she had to meet Sage in Diagon Alley. She raced back upstairs, quickly pulled off her pajamas, and pulled on the nearest pair of jeans and a sweater that she could find, tied her hair back in a messy bun, (her bangs refusing to cooperate of course) and then ran back downstairs. She grabbed a handful of floo powder, stepped inside the fireplace, and threw the powder on the ground. The fireplace sucked her up, twisting and turning, taking her where she wanted to go.
