Chapter One
Sophia's POV
Whipping the sweat that is tinkling down my forehead as I walk across my school's campus to the building where I eat lunch with my friends. The early June heat is beating down on my light skin tone and I collect all of my long brown curls, raising them off of my neck, tying the rubber band from my wrist around it. Reaching down I adjust my gray v-neck then my jean shorts. This stupid heat is killing! How did it go from freezing cold to burning hot? I wonder to myself. Quickly moving my flip-flop clad feet to the nearest door in desperation of air condition. This is going be one hot summer.
Finally, I reach the side door to the class room and escape the noon heat. Walking inside I drop my back pack onto one of the table tops and slump into a chair enjoying the cool air brushing my hot skin, from the vents in the ceiling. The other door from the hall opens and in walks Adam followed behind by my sister, Stella.
"Hey Sophia," Adam calls as he plops down into Mrs. Farley's roll-y chair. Usually Mrs. Farley eats lunch with us, but she is in a meeting today. Adam kicks up his feet onto her desk and smiles. Adam is one of my best friends; he is tall and skinny with muscles and has short black hair along with baby blue eyes.
"Hey sis," Stella says as she sits down in a chair in front of me. Her dark brown hair is in curls and her brown eyes are shinning thanks to her make-up. Today for the last day of school she is sporting a short white skirt with a baby blue spaghetti strap top and some heels. I must admit my sister, Stella, got all the fashion skills in my family.
"Hey guys," I reply digging out my Pop-tart from within my purse.
Stella pulls a brown bag from her back pack and Adam opens a drawer on the desk with drawling a bag. I am guessing that is where he stored his food today. He likes to change it up so that no one will take it. The door opens again and this time my brother, Shane, and best friend, Elena, walk in.
"You stupid face! Why don't you just go eat lunch with your jocky jerk face friends?" Elena says to Shane as she walks into the room. Her large, loose, blond curls dangle around her make-up less face and her blue eyes shine with annoyance.
"Aw, you don't mean that! You want me here, because you love me," Shane says in his annoying tone. He is tall and muscled with short brown hair, seas of chocolate for his eyes and is sporting a t-shirt and letterman jacket with jeans and Vans.
"In your dreams Shaney boy! Why don't you just go fall in a hole," Elena shots back to him.
Shane throws his arm around her shoulder and she cringes at his touch. Stella, Adam and I are watching this scene trying to contain are laughter. It's just because Shane and Elena fight like an old married couple and it's really funny to watch. This is my crazy group of friend, well more like family, and we are all on our last day of eleventh grade. Adam is the oldest in our group at the age of 18 and trusts me he never lets us live it down, but he is also the youngest in maturity, next to Shane. Then, I'm next at 17 almost 18 in a month, July 5th to be exact. Next is Elena, she is 17 and her birthday is in August. Last you have my lovely twin siblings, Stella and Shane. Stella and Shane are exactly 11 months younger than me. They just celebrated their 17th birthday three days ago. You see my mom had me and then two months later was knocked up again, having the twins nine months later, and we all fall into the same grade. Yeah, my mom is very fertile. People get confused by this a lot, and I have to explain it.
"You are in my dreams every night, beautiful," my ol' so charming brother says and Elena rolls her eyes.
"And you are in my nightmares," she retorts and I cannot help it as I burst into laughter along with Stella and Adam.
