"Hey, mind if I join you?"

Peter stuck his head out of the window. The night sky looked beautiful from the roof. He would always find an excuse to go up there and lay down, watching as the sun set and made way for the twinkling stars that dotted the sky. He would usually bring Morgan up with him, letting her sit and watch with him. Sometimes he'd bring out the TV to watch whatever was playing at the time. Or sometimes he'd put on a show for her, swiftly swinging between the trees while she cheered from the sidelines.

This time Tony sat up there. A box of cookies in his lap. His hair blowing in the light breeze. The perfect picture of serenity. Tranquil. Unfitting for the man he grew up watching. Yet still completely natural.

Tony didn't have to turn around for Peter to know he heard him.

"No, only cool kids allowed", Tony said.

A low chuckle escaped Peter's throat as he climbed onto the roof, allowing his legs to dangle off the edge. The sun had already gone down. Pink, orange, and yellow hues transitioning into a kaleidoscope of purple, blues, and blacks. The trees shook with the wind, the branches shaking and fall leaves rustling against each other.

Peter closed his eyes, allowing himself to be immersed in the mood. It almost seemed calm. The perfect facade restful stillness. But it was anything but. And Peter had a feeling they both knew.

"So, Steve huh?", he began.

Tony didn't even seem surprised at the topic. When Steve came knocking on their door Peter knew what was going to happen from there. Tony always acted like he didn't care but at the end of the day... he's an Avenger. An Avenger who's lost so much yet cares so greatly. It's one of the things he's always admired Tony for, even if he would never admit it.

"You already did it, didn't you? Invented time travel.", Peter said. And it wasn't a question. He could hear Tony's explicits from his bedroom. And Tony knew that too.

"I mean, it's awesome", Peter says in awe, his voice carried by the gentle wind. "It's great... I-I never thought I'd sit by the person who invented time travel. I've had my own theories about it for a while but that's all it ever was, theory. Me and Ned always said one of us would invent time travel and go show a caveman a GameBoy or something stupid like that but now that's possible and I just-"

Tony cuts him off with a wave of the hand. He grabs a cookie from the box and bites into it. "Calm down Marty McFly no ones showing a neanderthal a video game any time soon", he huffed out, his voice low and gravelly.

"Marty McFly?" Peter questioned. "I'm only Marty McFly if I go with you-"

Tony scoffed, "Which I already know you won't."

"So if anything that makes you a version of Doc who was all alone", Peter laughed. "A lonely little Doc who has to fix time all by himself."

A light smile appeared on Tony. It looked foreign but nice. "Alright that's enough out of you. One more word and I'll put you on laundry duty next week."

"What, like how you put me on lab cleaning duty last week?"

He could see Tony wince at the mention, no doubt still finding stray bits of non-dissolvable web solution across his garage. In his defense, he had no clue the canister would blow up the way it did. Another reminder that cleaning products and Spiderman gear don't mix.

"Nope, definitely not because you'd be handwashing all the clothes outside the old fashioned way."

"What!?" Peter exclaimed indignantly. "You can't do that! I have rights, you know."
