Next morning, Mrs. Ahuja came into their bedroom to wake the girls up.
"Tani! Tani wake up. Samar's parents are coming in a while!" She started shrieking.Divya got up with that noise and with a grumpy look, "Mom! Who the hell visits their future in-laws at 8 in the morning?" She yelled and pulled her blanket over the head and slept again. But their mom wasn't gonna leave without waking them up.
"8? Look at the time in your cell phones! It was 8 almost an hour ago!" Mrs. Ahuja still kept shouting as Tanishka finally woke up with a perplexed look. Without uttering a word, she went out.
"See! That's my good girl. Listens to me all the time!" She followed Tanishka out into the living room.
Mrs. Ahuja was a typical Punjabi mother; extremely fair, healthy and very quick with her words. Just like other Punjabi mothers, she too had a dreadful habit of overreacting at everything.
As Tanishka went out, she saw her dad sitting on the couch with his 'Economic Times' and his regular cup of coffee! Mr. Ahuja was more of a business minded person and not much interactive. An elegant look on his light brown face somewhat indicated his success.
"Good morning dad!" Tanishka said while walking towards the kitchen.
"Good morning Tani. Get dressed up quickly. Samar's parents are coming to get the wedding date fixed."
Tanishka just had a sip of water, and went back into her room to get ready. After a while, Tanishka came out back in the living area, dressed in an adorable pink coloured Indian dress; as everyone present there stop their conversation and watch this angel walking in.
She then serenely went to to greet Samar's parents - The Grewals. They were dressed in a surprisingly elegant Indian wear as well. The Grewals were another rich name in the Indian business market and had only a single heir to their corporation."Tanishka! Your parents and us, We've decided a few dates for the wedding." Said Mrs. Grewal in a pleasing voice as she hands over a page with all dates written.
Tanishka waffled a bit, but takes it eventually.Meanwhile, "Wedding should not be in Mumbai!" Said a hard, heavy voice of Mr. Grewal.
"Samar was thinking of a destination wedding in Goa!" Added Mrs. Grewal.Tanishka's parents were just smiling and shaking their heads helplessly as they believed the Grewals had already made all the decisions. But they didn't have a problem though!
"Yeah, Goa seems good!" Said Tanishka's father.
"So Tani, settled for any date?"
Tanishka was still quiet as she looked at her mother.
"You decide by yourself! Such a big decision of your life. We can't help you with this." Mrs. Ahuja's words brought up a soft chuckle.
Tanishka looked to Samar's mother and said "I'm okay with any of these dates aunty!"
Mrs. Grewal was a bit surprised.
" Aunty? Call me mummy now!" As everyone again had a gentle laugh.Tanishka smiled a bit, and walked up back to her room.
"Crimsoning! Isn't she?" Said Mr. Grewal as she saw Tanishka smile and walk back.
"Traditional Indian culture Mr. Grewal! Girls can't stand these wedding talks!" Said Tanishka's mom, as everyone had a bit laugh. AGAIN.Tanishka came back in her room. Divya was just ready as she asked "Are they still out there?"
Tanishka shook her head, and went out towards the balcony - her favorite place.
"Okay bye!" Divya exclaimed and went out in a rush.
Tanishka was standing in the balcony and watching the sea waves crashing against the shore. The sound it made gave her peace.Just then, her mom hurries in.
"Tani..."
She just came in and hugged her. Happiness was apparently seen through her face as she continued
"...Just a month away..."
She inserted a whole piece of some sweet chocolaty dish in Tanishka's mouth and continued again.
"...24th November, Goa! That's your wedding princess!"
And she went out again, Tanishka followed.Greeting and congratulating everyone. She didn't let that smile fade off her face. Happiness was clearlu flowing, as these two families were soon to become one.
After Samar's parents left, Tanishka's father went in her room. Saw Tanishka in the balcony and went to talk to her."Are you happy with this Tani?"
Tanishka hesitated, but softly replied "Yes dad!"
"Good. This was expected; and I'm very happy for my princess!"
Tani smiled, and there was a moment of complete silence. Tanishka's father gave her a gentle hug, as Mrs. Ahuja entered."Oh God! You father-daughter stop wasting your time! Just a month left, and so many preparations to do! How will we manage..." she kept howling, until Mr. Ahuja interrupted and took her out of the balcony, while Tanishka stayed there and enjoyed the unruffled silence.
Near about a week later, midnight, Tanishka woke up from her sleep and didn't find Divya alongside the bed.
She got up and went out to the living are and saw Divya sitting there with the brown diary."What are you doing Divya?" She whispered angrily.
"I needed to know what are you hiding from me. Who is this guy Kabir?"
"Just give me the book Divya!"
"No Tani, not this time. I'm not letting go until I find out everything about you and this guy."
"Not at 3 in the morning!" Tanishka kept yelling at her softly, but Divya had made up her mind.
"Its the perfect time! No one's awake."Tanishka felt helpless.
"Okay fine. You come back in the room. I'll tell you everything!"
