PROLOGUE:

Na'tali, born of the Omaticaya clan, grew up in the forest surrounded by loved ones. She spent her days with her best-friend Loak, son of Toruk Makto. As children Loak and Na'tali were always causing trouble together, Jake sully didn't know much of the girl. All he knew of her was that her parents were hardly around, Neytri however had once met Na'tali's parents, she described them as sxwang's who didn't know how to raise a child.

When Loak was 7 years old his best friend Na'tali disappeared. They clan had said that she had gotten lost or run away, but no one really knew what had happened. Neytri told Jake that the parents must have said or done something to the poor child, as she heard them yelling while she was in the forest the night before she disappeared. Neytam and the rest of his family tried to comfort Loak to the best of their abilities, he became awfully miserable at the loss of his best friend, as did Kiri, she was close with Na'tali as well. Not as much as Loak but still fairly close.

As the years went by the village had moved on, as well did the sully's. Loak was only 7 years old when she disappeared so he didn't remember much of her now. Plus no one really spoke of Na'tali. After all, her parents eventually ended up getting killed during a fight against the sky people, so everyone simply assumed she was now with Eywa. They had forgotten about her and her disappearance simply became a ghost story that Navi told their kids to scare them. She became a warning of why the children should not go into the forest alone at night. They mostly did this because they feared sky people kill them so they used Na'tali as a ghost story. However other than that Na'tali was simply a young forgotten and lost Navi.

Chapter 1 The return of the Sky People

AUTHORS NOTE: hey everyone just wanted to let you all know the story will be following most of the plot of avatar the way of water, and i will just be adding in stuff or taking out stuff here and there to make the story better. Anyway this is a short chapter, enjoy!

Neytam and Loak were flying their Ikrans above a train that was installed by the sky people,

"Lets go bro" exclaimed Loak to Neytam gesturing to the ground where other navi were getting weapons.

"Dad will skin us," Neytam answered. His brother rolled his eyes and flew down to the ground grabbing a gun. Neytam groaned in frustration and followed his disobedient brother who was always coming up with new ways to get into trouble.

"You don't even know how to use that," Neytam said to his brother. Loak smirked and tried to reload the gun when suddenly there was an explosion in front of them. Jake saw his 2 kids on the ground and rushed towards them. When he saw Loak standing he patted him and told him to leave. Loak nodded and rushed to his Ikran. Jake searched for Neytam, calling his name through the rouble of the explosion when he found him he flipped him over.

"Dad," He said, confused about the situation. "Neytam" Jake said in a panic. He picked him up and put him over his shoulder, they flew back on his Ikran and Jake held tightly onto his son.

...

"You disobeyed direct orders' 'Jake scowled at his 2 sons.

"But dad-" Loak attempted to speak before Jake cut him off.

"I don't want to hear it, you 2 could have been killed. And you Neytam i expect better from you". Neytam looked down, he hated disappointing his father. He was the chief, Toruck Makto and he had to live up to that. Neytam felt his heart ache whenever Jake told him he was disappointed in him. On the other hand Loak rolled his eyes and looked down, he was used to his father being disappointed in him. He always felt like an outcast to his family. Like he didn't belong, whenever his father yelled at him only made him feel like he was right. Like he truly was a disappointment.

Kiri behind Neytam was inspecting his wounds. He had a cut on his arm and she looked to her mother who was standing behind Jake.

"Jake, your son is actually bleeding" Neytri said to Jake in a tone for Jake to calm down and stop yelling at his kids. Jake sighed before he said "You're dismissed" to both his sons.

Loak and Neytam then both walked away with their heads down, they walked into the healing hut where kiri treated Neytams wound.

Later that evening Loak had yet again gotten into more trouble, him, Tuk, Kiri, and Spider had an encounter with sky people in the forest. They told them they were looking for Jake, and they were all being held at knife point. After Neytri, Jake and Neytam had rescued them it was too late for Spider, the sky people had taken him. Neytam felt bad for his brother, he knew that spider was one of his last close friends, he knew they sky people weren't going to kill spider, as he was a human and the son of the general so he tried to reassure his brother that spider was going to be ok.

When they got back to the village, Tuk, Loak, Neytam and Kiri were overhearing their parents talking about how they were going to leave. About how the sky people have returned and are specifically looking at for their family. Loak and Neytam looked at each other processing what they were hearing, they were going to have to leave their home. Their friends and their childhood. For a brief moment Loak thought of his old best-friend Na'tali, about all the memories they had in this village. About how they used to play hide and seek in the forest with Kiri, Neytam and spider. He thought about how they would stay up late and sneak food into their room at night, you know just having a normal childhood. He thought about how he was going to leave all those memories behind. And the grief of losing his friend should stay in the village. He didn't want to bring that grief to their next destination.

The next morning Jake and Neytiri announced to their children of their departure to find a safe home elsewhere. They all understood why they had to leave, although Tuk was having a debate with her mother she eventually accepted. The children packed their bags and hopped onto their Ikrans. Loak took one last look at the village and said goodbye.
