Missing

(Darius POV)
Everyone chatted about a plan to get to the boat safely. Although, everyone was mostly set on making sure Sammy was okay.

My heart dropped as Sammy made a small comment, "Wheres Ben?".

The scrawny boy had vanished from the camp. I turned around when Brooklyn placed a hand on his shoulder.

"We'll all go look for him, D" She said with a small smile on her face. I shook my head and shrugged her hand off me.

"No, Ill go alone," I started, everyone looked at me in disbelief, "you guys need to get Sammy to the boat. Ill be fine on my own."

Brooklyn looked at Kenji, a bit unsure. Kenji understood and began to gather the stuff without a word. My shoulders relaxed and I raced off into the forest to find Ben.

"Im not leaving. Im staying on the island" I couldnt believe it. Sadness and anger grew inside me as Ben turned around and began to walk away.

I stepped forward and grabbed his wrist to which he quickly pulled away. Whats his problem? I grabbed his shoulder and to my surprise, he pushed me to the ground.

(Ben POV)

A small pang of guilt hit me like a bullet when I saw the hint of sadness in Darius' eyes. But I couldnt let that get in the way. I began to wak off again when something latched onto my back pushing me to the ground. I felt a weight on top of me.

"Im trying to help!" I heard him yell.

"By controlling me?" I responded right before rolling out of his grip.

Darius grabbed my ankle and I kicked at him till he let go. Again he tackled me to the ground. This time I managed to get on top.

In the heat of the moment, I raised my fist for a punch, "Im not abandoning you again". His voice sounded broken and sad.

I paused and lowered my fist. I realized what was going and stood up to go see Bumpy. Darius got up to follow. He snagged the walkie as it crackled.

" We just had a run in with the Scorpius...Where..." thats all I could make out from the broken message.

We found Bumpy in a clearing playing with other Ankylosaurus'. We crouched behind a log and stared at the herd. There was some rustling in the bushes

The scorpius rex came bursting through charging at the ankylosaurs'. Ben stood up defensively. I grabbed his shoulder and pulled him back down as  the herd formed a defensive circle around Bumpy.

We watched as the Scorpius Rex circled and charger by kept failing on causing any injuries.

The dinosaur fled unsuccessfully. We looked at each other. Ben seemed a little sad. He looked back at bumpy then turned back to me.

"Lets get to the boat" I didnt know if he was just saying goodbye or leaving the island but at least I get to be there with him during our final moments.

Rain started to pour as our boat set sail from the island. Ben stood on the dock, lightning lighting up his face. I couldnt help but feel a longing to be by his side. He looked upset about his decision.

Ben turned around to leave then paused. My heart fluttered as he bolted towards the water and dove in, using all his strength to get to the yacht.

"STOP THE BOAT" I yelled at kenji, to which he obliged.

I went to the edge of the boat and held out my hand, grabbing onto Ben's. He smiled up at me and I smiled down at him.

This time I wouldnt let go.
