We see Nan and Mori go to the changing room. Cubcin was looking at his wrist, amazed by the magic of the arena. I grabbed his wrist and looked him in the eye. Though not a telepath, it felt like we were reading each other's minds. "Sorry for saving you too late," Cubcin apologized, "You could've saved me from almost getting killed. We still won though," I reassured him. Cubcin points at the television "There they are!" I turned my head and they were in the arena stretching and getting ready. This time the Sapies won the battle against the Hunts. This was the first time they won against anyone. The opposing team consisted of a grey wolf that had the strem to drain life force with a single touch and the other was a Labrador who had the strem of being able to build up energy from dead organisms and that energy would turn into a laser that can burn anyone it touches. Their team combo felt so scripted. Like playing imagine with a child. Nan's ability would be useless in this setting and I don't know about Mori's bard abilities.

They both came in and the fight was about to start. The announcer counted down. "1, 2, 3- Go!". The Sapies didn't move, they had smug looks on their face. It made me so mad. Nan was running towards them and summoned a whip into his hand. He started to lash them. The wolf instinctively grabbed the vine. The vine slowly turned brown. Nan started to scream in pain. He was connected to his plants, their dying would also feel like dying to Nan. He disconnected the vine and Mori came to his side. We couldn't hear them but I was able to interpret their words. "Stop," Mori said to Nan, "Bard isn't all songs." She was able to know what their abilities are. "I am able to foresee the future, the Labrador would soon eviscerate us and instantly win. He feeds on your plant's death," Mori explained to Nan. Nan was so mad, he couldn't believe they'd killed the plants. He looked at Mori asking for a plan. "Here's what we're going to do...".

Nan made two arms of vines and used them as a punching bag. He started throwing punches at the Labrador. It wasn't before long did the wolf cut in and grabbed his vine arms. It turned brown but suddenly stopped. There was a soothing song in the background. It was Mori, she was casting a healing song. She was playing it so fast that I could see her fingers bleeding. Nan took this opportunity and punched the wolf. The wolf was hit hard but wasn't moved. His arm was so fast that the T.V. with a 60 refresh rate couldn't even pick it up when slowed. He grabbed Nan's wrist and it started bleeding. His fur was falling off but Nan wasn't scared. Of course, it was painful, he was just buying time. The wolf was too focused on trying to make Nan's arm fall off that he didn't even notice that vines were crawling up on his back. His wrists were instantly trapped and he couldn't move. As for the Labrador, without death he was weak. He was too dependent on his teammates that he only knew basic combat skills. Nan used his other arm to grab the Labrador and put him on his knees. They won this match. Mori was smiling with her hair in front of her face. His fingers had deep cuts in them. She was losing blood but she hummed a tune and they started healing. Nan grabbed her other wrist and brought her outside the arena. They won.

...

It was now nighttime. They were still not done in the arena. We were only excused because Cubcin was on the verge of death even though we exited the arena. He was leaning on my shoulder. He was sleepy. "You can go to sleep if you want," I told him. "No, I'm going to wait for them," He said to me, "Wait, I have a question." I replied, "What is it?"

"Your ability was to adapt, right?"

"Yeah, why?"

"When your arms were stolen from their strength, why didn't your arm adapt?"

"It's complicated, but I guess I can explain it. I can only adapt if the same thing has happened to me enough times for me to understand how the ability words" I was lost in my thoughts that I never noticed that Cubcin has fallen asleep on my thighs. I tried getting up slowly putting his head on the bed. I walked towards the lights and turned them off. "Goodnight, Cubby" I whispered.
