Jonathon was definitely glad that he was the one to go wake the boys up, he didn't want to know what would have if Karen had gone into Mike's room instead. He didn't know what her reaction would have been, but he didn't want to find out.  Luckily, he'd insisted that she finished cooking instead, keeping her in the kitchen just in case.

oof.  That sounded oddly sexist.

Jonathan had a feeling that something might have happened since Will had given Mike the painting he'd spent the last forever making. The three-day-long van ride (most of which Jonathan had driven because Argyle was high, and they couldn't risk any time-consuming developments) to find their sister and the NINA Project, which Eleven had successfully destroyed, had been long and horribly boring.

Luckily, the boys had resolved their issues sometime before and seemed to be distracting each other from the literal hell that happened to be crashing down, around them and in Hawkins.  Then when Mike and Will had their "heart to heart," it wasn't difficult to tell that Will had been speaking about himself, not El.  Though Mike wasn't quite as see-through, (plus the fact that he had a girlfriend, even though he was sure they'd figure it out) Jonathan had been pretty sure Mike had been doing the same.

After that, when Murray had gone and stopped their argument, that was pretty good confirmation he had been right.  Murray, as strange as he was, had a certain magic to him; he hadn't failed yet, so Jonathan had no reason to think now would be any different.

And he was right, Murray had produced results. The boys were sharing Mike's bed, Will was practically attached to Mike, holding on to him with his whole body. Mike was laying on his stomach, one arm haphazardly draped over Will, the other hidden under the blanket.

It was the kind of cute that made you want to throw up a little bit, but Jon was happy for Will. He deserved this.

Mike woke with a start as Jonathan shook him vigorously.

"Your mom made breakfast. She told me to wake you two up."  That wasn't quite the truth, but Mrs. Wheeler was still cooking breakfast, because when else to practice your culinary skills except for the fucking apocalypse.  He was pretty sure she was on the verge of a nervous breakdown, so nobody challenged it at all anyways.

"Oh, uh..." He rubbed his eyes groggily in the morning light. "Yeah, yeah. Gimme a sec, can you?"

Jon nodded in response before walking out of the room. Mike turned to Will, a very obvious flush growing on his cheeks. He was holding on to Mike like a sloth, and the morning light illuminated his face, highlighting his features to give him an almost angelic appearance.

God, Mike just wanted to kiss the shit out of him.

Mike just shook him gently, not wanting to force him out of sleep too harshly.

He groaned in response, pushing at Mike a little in an attempt to make him "stop doing that."

Mike laughed a little, smiling at Will. "Come on, get up. My mom made us food, and we've got quite a bit of work to do anyways."

Mike's thumb grazed over Will's knuckles; somehow their hands hadn't detached themselves from each other during the night, and Mike kind of appreciated it.

"But I don't want to. I wanna sleep, come on Mike.  Come back here, it's cold without you," he slurred, voice drenched in that bleary early morning feeling. The butterflies in his belly were awakened too when Will felt Mike's fingers running over his hand.

Mike's stomach flipped at his response, but the feeling faded as he remembered about the other person he was supposed to be in "love" with.

Eleven. He had to tell her, after everything else she'd been through, that he was breaking up with her. She was going to be furious, but more than that, she was going the be torn apart. He knew how she was, and it wasn't going to be pretty. He felt terrible for her, and kind of mad at himself.
