-------------Chapter 1: From Strange Dreams to Strange Men Going Through my Cupboards
---------------
"Why are you doing this? What did I or they ever do to you?" Tears pouring from my eyes, my heart broke into another piece as I watched the man with the black ski mask turn the gun and shoot yet another member of my family. Victor's fire eyes....permanently dulled as they stared at me unblinking.
"STOP THIS! STOP THIS RIGHT NOW!"
I tugged effortlessly at my hands but they wouldn't move. The rope tying them to the chair I was seated in was stronger than possible. The masked man took no care of my command.
Kota once told me that all I had to do was realize this was only a dream and I'd wake, yet this felt so real.
The man turned the gun. There were only three of them left alive: Dr. Green, Mr. Blackbourne, and Nathan. The others were all here with me before the man showed up, and they d-di-went first. I couldn't even say that word.
His gun now trained on Nathan, I screamed until my throat felt raw. Again he said not a word but pulled the trigger. Nathan's warm blood splattered on my face. As I screamed, I tasted the copper and knew I would never survive....I'd never want to.
He pointed the gun at the tied up two. Dr. Green smiled at me but it held no trace of its usual flirtatiousness. "Pookie?" Another splatter covered me.
My pink top and white skirt were covered in blood now.
The man moved and stood behind Mr. Blackbourne. He slowly reached up and removed is mask. As he did so, his figure began to morph, to shift, to transform. .....he was now smaller. As his blonde hair stared to show, and his body shrank, the mask came away fully.
It was not a he. It was me.
I watched myself raise the gun and slowly lift it to Mr. Blackbourne's temple. Mr. Blackbourne began to speak despite the cold steel threatening his life. "Ms. Sorenson..."
Everything was shaking, like an earthquake. Or maybe it was just my trembling. "....Ms. Sorenson! .....Sang......." POW!
"Sang," someone was shaking me.
"Sweetie wake up. It's just a dream."
Or was it just me shaking....
Real. So real. The blood. I felt it. I tasted it.Oh God.
Opening my eyes I was aware of two overwhelming urges: 1. to hug each and every one of them and never let go, and 2. To scrub my skin raw to get the feel of the blood off of me.
"Ten, can you hear me?" Kota was touching my shoulder.
Luke was next to me. I heard him say "She's shaking like a leaf caught in a tornado, Kota." Arms wrapped around me but I couldn't move, frozen in my grief.
