Prologue

Ring!!! Ring!!! Ring!!!

I flinch as I heard the shrill screech of the school bell signaling that it was time for recess. I head to the playground to meet my two best friends, Tiana and Alec. Tina was an energetic, optimistic, tall colored girl. She had a dark complexion with almond shaped eyes. She had curly dark brown with dark eyes that shone in bravery. Alec was a red head with freckles that remined me of stars in the sky. He was quite pale and baby blue eyes.

As I moved with the other first graders itching to go play outside, I was suddenly grabbed by the arm. As I turned around to meet a pair of familiar blue-grayish eyes. My smile faded from my face and formed a frown. I pulled my arm away from him and backed away.

"Awe, come on, Cry-Baby-Kacie. Why do you want to run away from me?" teased a smirking Jackson. Jackson was an inch or two shorter than me but he held himself tall and proud. He had dark brown hair with light tanned skin tone. His three other friends stood next him while laughing at his insult towards me. I looked down and felt my eyes tear up.

"Hey Jackson. Leave Kacie alone! Go play with mud or somethin' you big jerk!" I looked up to see an angry Tiana and Alec rush to my side. I instantly rush toward her.

"Ha Ha Ha, You can't tell me what to do." He told Tiana.

" No but our teacher can." she told him.

I started to pull Tiana and Alec away from Jackson. When suddenly I was pulled away from them, hearing Tiana let out an angry screech. I whimpered in fear as Jackson started to pull me towards his friends.

"What is going on here!?!" Everyone got quite instantly. I turned around to see our teacher Mr. Garza heading toward us. Jackson and his friends ran away before Mr. Garza could see them.

"You better run!!!" Tiana and Alec screamed, but instantly turned around and run towards me. They pulled me into a group hug while Mr. Garza started to chase Jackson and his friends down the hall.

"Don't let him get to you, Kacie, he is just a big bully."

"OK."

Three weeks later I was shocked to hear that Jackson moved away. Tiana and Alec instantly started to smile, and I felt as if I was finally free from hell.
