Morningpaw POV

"An excellent training session, Morningpaw." Roseclaw purred as she began to walk,"Although you could work on your balance, I noticed you have a rather unsteady landing."

"So how do I fix that?" Morningpaw asked quickly.

"Relax, Morningpaw. You don't need to be perfect yet, you still have lots of time to learn.' Roseclaw told him,"Its something we can learn next session."

"But when's that?" Morningpaw questioned.

"So many questions for such a small cat."

"I'm gonna get bigger!"

"I know you will-"

Roseclaw stopped in her tracks, her tail rigid as she sniffed the air. She shook her head and nudged Morningpaw behind her.

Confused, Morningpaw looked up at Roseclaw although she was certainly on edge.

"Well, well, well... What's a MossClan cat like yourself doing so close to the border?"

Morningpaw's ears perked up at the sound of an unfamiliar tom's voice. When he looked around Roseclaw he saw a long-furred, greyish blue tom cat with green eyes and a smaller cat beside him, a long-furred, brown she-cat with amber eyes. The smaller cat looked around his age, maybe another Apprentice?

"I'm far enough away, I haven't crossed it." Roseclaw spoke firmly,"I'm merely training my Apprentice."

"So he actually gave you an Apprentice?" The tom scoffed,"Were you the only cat left without one?"

"Hey! Roseclaw is the best Warrior in MossClan!" Morningpaw darted forward.

Roseclaw grabbed him by the scruff before he could run over the border at the tom.

"And a feisty one, I see." The tom sighed,"If only my Apprentice was that eager, she's more concerned with chasing butterflies like a kit."

Roseclaw sat Morningpaw down by her side as she turned away from the tom,"Our business is done here, Riverlight. We're leaving."

Riverlight... That must be the tom's name.

Riverlight flicked his tail from side to side,"Shame, I would've enjoyed continuing this conversation."

"Goodbye."

Roseclaw seemed to hurry as she sped off, Morningpaw struggled to keep up with her. Although, Riverlight called after them.

"You'll always be a coward, Roseclaw."

If Roseclaw hadn't stopped him, Morningpaw would've ran back to yell at Riverlight again. What gave him the right to talk to his mentor like that?

"That tom is a liar." Morningpaw huffed as they entered camp.

Roseclaw seemed to hesitate before she answered,"I know he is."

Morningpaw sighed as Roseclaw padded off. He headed towards the Apprentice Den and flopped into the nest beside Berrypaw who was still laying.

Morningpaw looked at his brother before getting up and laying down in Berrypaw's nest, curling up next to him and closing his eyes.

It took seconds for Berrypaw to rest his head on Morningpaw and start to purr. If he could, Morningpaw would freeze time... Things wouldn't be able to stay this way forever...
