DELILAH WAS HELPINGbelly get ready for her date while she helped herself get ready to go to laurels book party. all the girls decided to get ready at the Parker beach house so the guys could mess around and not be in the girls way.
"where are you guys going anyway?" delilah asked the girl.
"to the drive in to watch a movie."
"aww, cute. so he's good at date planning too." she winked.
"oh my god, be quiet." belly laughed.
"hey, anna." delilah greeted the woman as she walked in and sat down in delilah's room.
"hey, girls."belly started to put lipstick on as susanna and delilah put their shoes on.
"you look really cute." susanna complimented. "you are going to have so much fun tonight."
"we're just going to see a movie."
"and? a date's a date." delilah laughed.
"you look nice, hon." laur complimented her daughter.
"i can't believe crop tops are back. remember how i thought i was such hot shit in that baby tee i wore freshman year?"both women laughed and belly grabbed her phone.
"have fun tonight." anna told the girl.
"are you not driving with us?"
"didnt belly tell you? she has a date."
"sorry, mom. um his name is cam."
"yeah, his mom works at the club. really nice boy, very smart."
"like, harvard smart." belly laughed.
"i met him once, he is really sweet." delilah backed up the women.
"it's fine." laurel laughed. "of course you can go. i've dragged you to enough of these book parties over the years. have a great date."
"thanks." and the girl walked out.laurel paused her daughter before she left the room.
"do we need to talk about consent before you go?"
"mom." she nervously walked out.
"i kind of wish i wasn't going to this party either, no offense." laurel said.
"quit being such a debbie downer. you'll get inspired again. i know it. maybe write about how ellie and conrad have liked each other for years but are to chicken to tell each other."
"hey, that's unfair." delilah laughed.
"it's true though."
"he's dating nicole. how bad of a person would i be to get in the middle of that?"
"i know, honey. he'll come around eventually. i know he will."
"ok.. is my mom in her room still?"
"no, she's cutting up fruit for the party. she said she found fresh pineapple."
"okay."
"maybe i said all i have to say. maybe i don't have any books left in me anymore." laurel thought after a few minutes.
"i'll let you have your pep talk time. i'll meet you downstairs."delilah walked out of the room and down the stairs to follow after belly. she thought she might need some back up against the three boys who could be a bit dramatically over protective.
"what are they doing?" delilah whispered to the girl next to her.
"i don't know, playing video games. i've been down here for 5 minutes and they haven't noticed me."
"well, say something. get their attention."
"uh, see you guys later."that's how the young teen grabbed jeremiah's attention.
"damn!"
"wha- oh, yeah fine just abandon the game completely, jere."and then conrad turned around to see what was going on.
"you... look.. hot." he said spinning her around
"hey hey, stop flirting with my sister."
"shut up, steven."
"no, you shut up."
"doesn't she look pretty, con?"conrad gave her a little nod but truth is, he hadn't looked at belly once. he was only looking at delilah.
pink was always one of delilah's favorite colors, and out of the many times she wore pink he had never realized how beautiful she looked in the color.
