my name is mari, and i work as a zookeeper. it's a fulfilling job, surrounded by nature and incredible animals. but for right now i was busy cleaning an exhibit because guests were due to come in soon.
i decided to listen to music, i went and grabbed my airpods max and played my playlist. with these headphones i couldn't hear a thing, allowing me to focus on cleaning. most of the time the exhibits weren't that hard to clean so i should be out of here soon.
as i hummed along to the music, i felt a tap on my shoulder. startled, i turned around and removed my headphones, only to be greeted by a familiar face. it was kai cenat, the streamer on twitch i didn't watch him a lot but my brother did so i was familiar with him. with the few clips i had seen of him he seemed like a funny dude.
"hey there, mari," kai said, smiling at me and looking at my name tag. i couldn't help but be taken aback. it wasn't every day that a famous person showed up at the zoo especially cute ones. "um sure what brings you here" i asked stopping my movements to chat with kai.
kai leaned against the enclosure railing, smiling big as he does on stream "well, mari, i couldn't help but stop by seeing a hard-working person. plus, i heard you stream a little bit too."
i laughed, appreciating that he knows that im a hard worker. "yea, i do stream a little bit here and there thanks for being a supporter."
with another smile, kai put on a playful expression. "speaking of amazing creatures, did you know you're the most koala-fied zookeeper i've ever seen? you bring so much panda-monium to my heart!"
i burst into laughter, actually laughing because most pickup lines don't work on me especially corny ones. "that's a good one. it's mad corny but i like it."
kai grinned, clearly enjoying our banter. "well, mari how about after you finish you come with me and get lunch?"
kai was just too funny, causing me to blush but he couldn't see it. "for sure just give me 20 minutes, and ill find you. we can go to the jungle cafe. their wings are so good."
he raised an eyebrow, he looked interested. "ill definitely see you there then, peace"
i giggled, realizing that i got a date with kai. "okay, just finish cleaning the enclosure, so i can eat" i said to myself.
its been 30 minutes and i was walking to the locker room to change. i change into my tan sweatpants, black fitted shirt, with a grey zip-up hoodie.
i walked towards the cafe and saw kai sitting at a table. "wassup mari, nice to see you showed up" kai said getting up to hug me. he was taller than me but didn't look that much shorter than the other guest. we sat down and ordered our food. i got buffalo wings and he got crab legs.
after leaving the cafe i had 15 minutes left for my break. i showed kai the zoo, VIP tour if you will. we went to the underwater cave part. you walk down the stairs and see fish and aquatic animals swimming over and beside you. if you went back up the stairs and up another flight you could see the same animals and people below in the underground aquarium. kai found it cool and so did i.
as minutes started to run up, me and kai stopped at the same enclosure where we met. now filled with a lion and his small family. we exchanged numbers and parted ways.
