Days gone by since Y/N and the squad travelled and asked people around if they know a certain Erwin Smith.

Days had become weeks and a lot has happened just within them. Y/N and Levi still banter with each other and Isabel never misses a chance to tease them. Mikasa and Isabel surprisingly became friends, yet Mikasa still couldn't be convinced by Isabel and Furlan to join them in "shipping" Y/N with Levi. Armin on the other hand would just keep quiet on the side but over the time, he and Furlan have become close too. And Eren would most of the time piss Levi off due to him being messy. Y/N mentally noted that Levi was in fact, a clean freak.

It is in those moments Mikasa, Eren and Armin saw how their princess has changed.

What once used to be a princess wearing expensive gowns and jewelry, was now just clothed with ordinary working clothes. Hunting once used to just be a sport in the kingdom but now has become a means for them to have food.

Sure she was having conversations with them, and sometimes faintly smile with their jokes and all, but it was never happy.

"Princess, what if, he's really gone already? Our money can only do so much" Armin told her, and this was also heard by Levi who was just leaning on a tree with his arms crossed.

Meanwhile Mikasa, Eren, Isabel and Furlan were busy asking people around.

"I..." For the first time she wasn't able to come with a response, she knows that, but she just doen't want to give up, not when they've already gone this far.

"That's just a what if" Both Y/N and Armin looked at Levi's direction.

"What you're saying, Arlert, is just a what if, a theory" he says. "There's no evidence yet that he's dead. If the princess wants to go on searching, then let her, we still have money, it's not yet gone"

Armin stepped forward and faced him. "I'm just trying to be careful, we should not be complacent"

"We aren't being complacent" he replies. "All this journey, just to give up? We've already gone this far, we're not even in L/N kingdom anymore" 

"You're just saying that because you're after the reward" At this, Levi also faced him with a sharp glare.

"Hey—" Y/N tried to butt in, but her presence was ignored.

"Think like that all you want, whether it's for the reward or not, my opinion will remain the same, continue searching"

"Aren't you the one who always says that he's dead and quick to turn down her highness's hope?"

"I'm just teasing her, I've never meant those words"

"Stop it you two" Y/N now raised her voice, rubbing her temples as stress starts to get through her. Both of them finally snapped their heads towards her direction.

"Finally! I got your attention, stop fighting! God, you're stressing me out" she says.

"I apologize, your highness" Armin bowed his head and Levi just kept quiet.

"I'm not giving up, Armin" she said. "I'm sorry but I'm never giving up, if worse comes to worst, then I'm selling some of my remaining possessions"

This made Levi smirk. "There you go, the princess who never gives up"

"Prin—Y/N! Y/N!" Furlan ran towards them.

"What is it, Furlan?"

"An old woman said he knows a man with the same description we provided"

Y/N's eyes widened when she heard this. "Where? Let's go to him this instant!" she says as she grabs Furlan's wrist.
