The Surprise

I sat in my bed for the rest of the afternoon, and well into the evening, watching Finn and Jack be their cute, adorable selves on my phone screen.

How was he going to tell me this? Was he even going to tell me at all?

I decided to roll out of the warm cocoon I had made with my blanket and go grab my phone. With the touch of a button I saw that I had three missed calls from my sister, Penelope, and one text from a certain Harries.

I opened the text first, knowing my sister would talk for hours.

Sorry about the incident today, you handled it with grace and elegance. :) I promised I would text about the date details, but I think it should be a surprise. Meet me tomorrow for coffee at 11 and we can chat ;D xxxx

I don’t much like surprises.

I regret to inform you that surprises make my blood boil. Just tell me? ;)

After pushing send I dialed Penelope. She answered before the first ring had even finished.

“THEA, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!”

“Calm, calm, I’m right here! Is everything okay?”

“Everything is beyond okay! Lucas proposed!! I’m getting married, can you believe it?!”

“AHHHHH!!! This is so exciting, I’m so incredibly happy for you!! This is amazing!! Congratulations!”

“Thanks girl! But there’s more,” she said enticingly.

“ARE YOU PREGNANT?!”

“Oh heavens no, don’t be ridiculous! I decided that since I won’t be around you while I’m doing a lot of the planning, I should come see you!”

“You’re coming to England? When??”

“I’m leaving tomorrow so I should be there the day after! I know you just got there yourself, but I never actually got to say goodbye and Lucas and I need to show you the ring! So we’ll be out for the whole day, but that’s it.”

That was Penelope, making last minute decisions and ‘living on the edge’.

“That sounds wonderful! I will pick you up from the airport! Just text me the details when you know them!”

With a loving farewell, we hung up. Usually we would talk for hours, but I could tell she was excited and running a million miles a minute, so I figured it was best to let her go.

I guess I had been so excited that I hadn’t felt the vibration of a new text message.

Guessing it was from him, I opened it with a smile.

Not a chance. ;D you will just have to wait and see! Meet me at the café right around the corner from your hotel, can’t wait to see you! Xxx

He was such a charmer. I couldn’t begin to describe how I felt texting him, I just knew I would be a wreck tomorrow.

I set my phone down and picked up some takeout menus. It was a reasonable dinner time, I suppose. With all of the excitement coming up, I had better go to sleep fairly early tonight. Besides, I was exhausted from my lack of sleep last night and the classic London shopping I had done earlier.

I ordered some Chinese and spent the rest of the evening in that same blanket cocoon, preparing for everything I would be freaking out about tomorrow and watching some more Jacksgap.
