Chapter II

DREAMWEAVER'S PLANE

SERGEI FOUND himself inside a cave. He saw the inner wall of the cave glittered. At first, he thought they were rock crystals but when he looked closer, he saw that they were fireflies.

He followed their flight deep in the cave. He wondered if this was still part of Aiden's dream. He needed to know so he went further without fear.

Inside the cave he saw a giant tree with enormous branches reaching the sky above the hole in the cave's ceiling. The fruits on the trees were cones twinkling like stars in the night sky.

Not only does the tree have those branches but also roots showing on the ground where the tree stood. From these roots he saw flowers growing in a shower of colors.

What was the oddest thing about it was that there was a sleeping body suspended in the middle of the tree as if held by what looked like a hammock made from smoke wrapping around the tree.

He walked near the tree to view the face of the sleeping body.

Then as if disturbed by his steps, the smoke around the tree rippled towards the center.

The sleeping body stirred and all of a sudden, its eyes opened. It stared straight at Sergei.

In that brief contact he saw that this creature's eyes were green and blue. The most beautiful eyes Sergei ever saw in his life. They looked otherworldly, glinting with the reflected little lights inside that cave.

The creature spoke in surprise, "Who are you? How did you get here?"

His voice seemed to have alerted some other occupants of the cave. At the four corners of the cave, some hooded creatures glided towards him. They have such an eerie feel about their movement as they try to reach him without making any sound.

The light from the tree revealed their faces. Eyes half-closed as if in a dream. But what shook Sergei was their mouth shut by stitches of silver threads.

Horror overwhelmed him and he ran out of the cave disrupting the fireflies on his way. They suddenly swirled around him and he felt his body dissipate into thin air.

SERGEI OPENED his eyes and found himself inside his own room. He took off his eyeglasses and placed them gently on the bedside table.

He rubbed his eyes as if to dispel the cloud of the dream he had. He still felt the remnants of the fear he had running away from those hooded figures in the cave.

He had to admit though that what was more compelling for him was the sleeping body with green and blue eyes.

'Who is he? Where did my dreams take me this time? The creature's dreamy face seemed to speak to him still, as if he was wanting him to see him again.

He wondered if he would meet him once more, this otherworldly boy in Aiden's dream.

'Was it even Aiden's or mine? '

Deep inside he could feel it was not only Aiden dreaming but Sergei too. But usually, Sergei's dreams are more intentional. When he puts his mind to it, he can reach any particular place or another person through their dreams.

He stood up and reached for his computer. He searched the internet for the images he saw in the dream. He even consulted the Dream interpreter websites and apps on his phone but nothing seems to point him straight to answers he sought.

He looked at online libraries and after several keywords he typed in the searched box, some pages popped up about claims of Dreamwalkers.

Dreamwalkers are supposed to be human beings who can tread on other people's dreams and some of the strongest kinds can even reach the threshold of Dream World.

It was said that Dreamwalkers had the ability to be in other people's dreams or walk the dreaming world through Dreamfasting. It is a power unique to Dreamwalkers attaching their dreams to other people's dreams. Some of them can manipulate these stitched dreams as if they were happening in the Waking World. They can make the dreamers feel real and tangible in the physical world.

He read through and found a section about Dreamweavers. They are creatures of myth said to be the children of humans and Faes who were brought to the care of a group of silent monks where they were bound to spin the Dream Wheel in Eternity. This was to keep the world dreaming and maintain the balance of the waking world with the fantastic realm of faeries.

This was too much for him to take. Could he be a Dreamwalker and the guy in the cave a Dreamweaver?

Can he actually attach to other people's dreams that they call Dreamfasting? Whatever this information meant to him, he wishes above all to see that beautiful boy again of the Dream World.

He had to take a break for now and think things through. He may have discovered something he can further use his found ability to maybe find the happiness he longed for in his growing years.

He could tell that the otherworldly boy was fated to change his own world but he did not know if he could see him again. He wanted to know him more. That he was not just a figment of his imagination.

This mystery was something he will pursue no matter what. His dream of being with Aiden seemed to be a distant illusion now but this boy who enthralled him seemed a perfect dream to dwell on.

He went downstairs to drink a glass of water. He felt his stomach aching for food. He started cooking a simple dinner for him and his father when he arrives home.

He stirred the pot as if pulled back to those rainbow-colored lights that brought him to the Dream World, he found the most intriguing boy he ever laid eyes on.

The doorbell seemed to break the spell he was on. It was his father, Albert, arriving from work.

They sat on the table andenjoyed the meal he cooked for the two of them. His father asked how his daywas as he inquired about his own day at work. They laughed about some details. This was one of those moments he loves to share at the table with his dad afteryears when his mother left them. They were both at their happiest as ifforgetting the empty chair on the dinner table.
