Chapter 16- Camping

A/N: I'm so sorry for the late update of this chapter. I had a huge exam which came up and I couldn't miss it for anything, so had to take a little break for a while. I'm happy to be back now, in fact it feels great to be back on track even though the fight isn't yet over.

[Chapter 16- Camping ]

I woke up the next day half-frozen by the sharp air, but in bright sunshine. I gave out a slight yawn inhaling deeply the sweet scent of summer as I got up from my cosy bed wondering where everyone's gone to. It seems I was the only one still in bed cos beds were neatly laid and backpacks were orderly arranged at the doorstep. It seemed everyone was going somewhere somehow without me. "That's totally impossible cos school isn't yet on vacation and today's just Sat-Saturday", I said to myself.

Wait!, did I just say today was Saturday? ..Oh no, I get it now cos today's the day school would be organizing the camping.

I smacked my head with my right arm for not thinking straight. I came out of the dorm still in my pyjamas and saw people running up and down, it was like they've all been set up for a marathon cos they all weren't paying attention to each other as they went about doing their thing. I quickly entered the dorm and brought out my duffel bag and started packing some clothings suitable for the weather and for the trip as well. I also took along six pair of boots, hats, glasses, two glossy fashion magazines which I took along with me everywhere I went in case the place was boring and three leather belts. I neatly packed everything together and dashed quickly into the bathroom. I was done showering within minutes and began dressing up in an attaire suitable for the long trip. I wore a lemon velvet dress with a leather belt which had gold strips that matched the colour of the dress I was wearing. I also accesserized my look with a pair of shady glasses and hat. I looked out through the window to find four single-decker busses parked beside the school's enormous fountain. One of them seemed to be getting ready to take its departure so I clutched on to my duffel bag which was laid on my bed together with my hands and began racing down the stairs to get a seat in atleast one of the busses before they all took of leaving me stranded on campus. I was lucky enough to get there in time earning myself a seat in the second bus. Our journey began shortly after a while getting us all excited. I was excited and nervous as well since I didn't know where exactly we were going to have our camp. I looked through the window and saw "oakwood college" fading within a mile, leaves of different colours strewed the path as we kept moving. I didn't realize someone sitting beside until the voice spoke to me. It quickly snapped me out of my deep thoughts and got my full attention. I was surprised to find Owen sitting beside me, Alison and Rex occupying the seats in front of us, Taylor and Karl sitting at the opposite end of the bus and Ophelia, Mia and Alexis occupying the backseats together. I felt happy to be surronded by them since I almost forgot telling them about the camping.

"Missed me already sweetheart?" Owen asked with a smirk on his face when he caught me staring at him in awe.

"No", I said to him immediately when I felt myself blush. I quickly took my eyes of him to watch something else before he caught me blushing.

How embarrassing right?

"So how did you guys get in here? ", I asked breaking the silence when I noticed the atmosphere was filled with boredom.

"Well its simple we just got in after you did ",said Rex

"Yeah ", said Mia adding her voice.

"The first bus left us stranded so we had no other choice but to take the next one", said both Alison and Alexis.

"I had already occupied a seat here so all what I needed was to just occupy it again", said Karl.

"OK that sounds interesting", I said as we began playing a game of "truth or dare" together to keep our day going.

On departing from campus, our long tiring ride had taken a path along the coast. Mist blurred the rugged summits of the hills on the horizon; now and a few patches of snow glittered on the slopes of the distant mountains. Two hours later we reached a little town were we all stayed for a while and shared our frugal lunch. We set off again three hours later, still treading the pale grass of the pastureland, we entered a parish and past a couple of small towns. It was now four o'clock and we had already traveled four miles or twenty miles before we finally reached our destination. We began packing our luggages out of the bus and began setting up our tents before the night fell. We were all grouped into ten groups and luckily I shared the same group with Taylor, Rex and of course Owen. Karl on the other hand shared another group with the Alison, Alexis and Mark. Professor Ludwig was our guide since he was well experienced with hiking and abseiling. He told us we weren't going to only have fun but also explore the mystery and the entire landscape of "stapi". Some of us couldn't wait to start hiking whilst others where disappointed on hearing that we weren't going to have much fun and relaxation at our camping. It took us all about two hours to be fully done setting our tents. Our campsite was illuminated by the moonlight and campfires which were made to provide warmth since the weather had changed from sunny hot day to a chilly cold night. We all hang around the campfires cracking jokes and telling stories whilst others decided to explore around the campsite that night. We stayed there all night long enjoying each others company as we waited for what tomorrow awaits us.
