Down the hill you go." I said as I threw the rock in my hand. The place looked majestic at this time of the day. The hues and tints from the setting sun colouring the whole place . It made me feel safe. I wanted to be there forever but alas I had to leave soon,I had a curfew to make. I looked at the time.
"Shit,it's almost 6." I murmured. Then I turned to run. I had to get home before 6 or I'm screwed. I arrived at the bus stop just in time to miss the bus. My only chance was one of those service bikes so I took that chance.
I rode with the wind . Literally. I was going so fast I nearly crashed into half the people I passed by and pushed down at least three kids.
I turned into the street just when my watch went off.
6:00 . shit. I'm screwed. My mom's car was parked in the driveway so she was definitely home. I parked the bike putting it in my mind to return it to a service station. I slowly creeked up the stairs and opened the door as slow as a snail. I just wasted my time because she was right there with her back to the door, staring at a replica of the Mona Lisa.
" Lyreyre" her voice came as calm as ever.
" Mother" I replied in an equally calm voice.
"You do know that it is past 6:00 right "
"Yes,mother,I do."
"So do pray tell, why are you late? "
I didn't know if she asked expected an answer or not because I know she didn't care of the reason. She never did.
"Do I have to repeat myself?"she asked.
"I was at school- don't you dare lie to me she interrupted.
" I was out job hunting."
Splat! Right across my face. I could feel the tears stinging in my eyes.
" I was out watching sunsets at Cliff Hill."
"So you're telling me you missed my curfew just to watch some stupid sunset."Her voice was calm
I hated it.
"I didn't mean to, I didn't realise- Go to your room!" She shouted
" Yes mother "
I held my tears in. I wouldn't cry in front of her. I promised myself not to. I climbed up the stairs to find Miles leaning against the railing. He didn't say anything until I was almost in my room.
"You should know better" He then went down the stairs.
Now, I didn't know whether I was to go down and prepare dinner or not. Just as I was contemplating it,my door creeked open.
" Mum said you should prepare dinner and do your chores." Abe said and slammed my door
without waiting for my reply.
Asshole, I thought
I did as I was told as I was not anticipating another reprimanding. I prepared a spaghetti casserole as it was my mother's favourite even though I knew she would not even notice so.
Dinner was a quiet affair as everyone ate wherever they wanted. The dining room, bedroom, lounge, balcony. Anywhere away from Others. Ipreferred it that way
10:58 p.m. Time for bed. I became dead to the world the moment my head hit the bed.
5:00 am . 30 minutes before my alarm clock goes off. For the past five weeks,I've been waking up in a state of confusion at 5: I don't know why, I just did. I went through my chores for the morning and got ready for school. I wore a purple long sleeved shirt with some blue overalls and black boots. My style or the style I put on for everyone. T'was Monday morning once again, time for the show to begin.
