"K guys! Stay awesome!" I said and cupped my hand over my camera lens. I had just finished my first video of summer 2013! My name is Cameron Rose, but everyone calls me Cam. I just finished my senior year in high school. I live in L.A, but for the first 13 years of my life I lived in Montana. I started 8th grade in L.A. but didn't have many friends, I got held back so I was 15 when I started high school. At the time I hated being held back, but now I'm very grateful because I met my best friend that year. Her name is Abby Rae, we were the 'loners' in our class so we have been friends all through high school.
I started my You Tube account the summer before freshman year because Abby was away on vacation that summer and I was bored. When I started my account it was mostly me singing and doing weird shit, I had never expected it to become as popular as it did. During my sophomore year is when people in my school found out about my videos. I got teased and picked on for being 'that girl who has no friends, so she talks to a camera'. At first it was difficult to deal with them taunting me all the time, but as time when on I learned to tune them out. If I had listened to them and stopped making videos I probably would have never met my other best friends, Andrea Russett, Sam Pottorff, Ricky Dillon, Trevor Moran, Kian Lawley, Grace Helbig, and Tyler Oakley. I met them all at Vid-Con last year but unfortunately I didn't get to meet Connor Franta, Jc Caylen, or Ricardo Ordieres while I was there. So I was really excited to meet those 3 this summer. Andrea, all of the O2L guys, and me had made plans to meet up in 2 weeks and I couldn't wait.
I looked at my phone to see the time, 12:35. Shit! I had to get ready because I had a date with my boyfriend of 1 1/2 years Ace Dawson. I rushed into the bathroom and combed through my hair, I then ran a straightner through it. I applied a light layer of makeup on- some mascara, eyeliner and just a dash of white eyeshadow for some sparkle. I put on my favorite blue sparkly tank top on with some high waisted shorts, I found my black lace Toms and threw them on right as i heard my doorbell ring. I slid down the rail on my staircase and opened the door to see Ace. "Bye mom! Be back later!' I yelled even though she was probably out. "Ready?" he asked. I nodded as he led me to his car.
"So where are we going?" I asked. "It's a suprise." he said with a grin. I moaned, I hate suprises, I like everything planned out. When we stopped I looked out the window, we were at one of the prettiest parks I'd ever been at and there was a blanket with a picnic basket sitting on it. "Aww! Ace! Thank you so much! It's perfect!" I said while giving him a hug. He smiled and took my hand leading me over to the blanket, we ate and talked for what seemed like hours. I checked my phone and saw that it was 2:26. "Ace? I have to go, I have to edit a vdeo for my channel." I said. He looked up from his phone. "Sorry, what was that?" he asked. "I said I gotta go my video still needs editing. Who are you texting babe?"
A dark expression came across his face. "Is it any of your god damn business who I'm texting?!" He yelled. "N-no I was just wondering" I stuttered. He raised his arm up and hit me repeatedly for what seemed like forever. When he stood up he kicked me in the ribs so I couldn't stand. "That'll teach you, you nosy little bitch." He said before getting in his car and driving away. I looked for my phone, which had flown out of my hand when he was hitting me, I saw it landed a few feet in front of me so I painfully crawled over to it. I picked it up and dialed Abby's number.
"Hello?" Abby answered.
"Abby? I need you to come get me, I'm at the park by my house and I cant walk or stand up, please hurry." I said.
"Cam?! Are You alright!? What happened?!"
"I'll explain later now just get here fast." I said. 5 long minutes later Abby pulled up in her lime green convertable, when she saw me laying on the ground she rushed over.
"Omygoodness! Cam what the hell happened?!" she yelled. "Ace took me out on a picnic, about 15 minutes ago I told him I needed to go home, he was texting someone and was distracted, when I asked him who he was texting he freaked out a-and did th-this!" I explained in between sobs. "We need to take you to the hospital right now!" she cried. She put my arm over my shoulder and stood me up and started walking me to her car. The last thing I remember before blacking out was her laying me in the backseat of her car and speeding off to the hospital.
