*Cameron’s POV*
Oh god my back hurts. Wait where am I? I looked over to see Abby lying motionless on a bed and suddenly all the events from last night came flooding back. I got up and went to the bathroom that was attached to this room. I looked in the mirror and was a little shocked at how bad I looked. My eyes were bloodshot from crying last night, and my hair was going in different directions. I went back into the room to get stuff to get ready for the day. I brushed through my tangled hair and pulled it up into a high pony tail. I washed my face and brushed my teeth then I went to find some clothes. I decided on a pair of jogging shorts and a tank top, and then just slipped the sweatshirt back over my head.
I walked back out and walked back over to Abby’s bed. I studied her features as she lies there motionless; she had bruises and scrapes all over face and arms. She had a broken leg and hand. Why did it have to be her? She had never done anything wrong; she had her whole life ahead of her. She was going to go to college and get a job then get married and have a family. Now I don’t even know if she is going to wake up. I walked over to the couch and pulled my computer on my lap. I logged on and went into my picture library, I had a folder that was all Abby and I. There were over a hundred pictures of us just goofing around each one brought back memories and I couldn’t help but smile.
I hadn’t even gotten through half of them when the doctor came in. I set the computer aside so I could talk to him.
“Hi, you must be Dr. Dillon. I’m Cameron.” I told him.
“Hello Cameron it’s very nice to meet you, but I must ask are you related to Abby?”
“Not technically but she’s basically my sister.”
“If you’re not related to her why are you her emergency contact number?”
“Well when we were setting up our contacts we decided to put each other’s numbers down because neither of us have fathers, and our mothers don’t care about what happens to us.”
“I’m sorry to hear about that, since you’re the only one who is here I’ll tell you what is happening here. While she was driving home last night she was hit by a drunk driver, her injuries are minimal a few bumps and bruises and a broken leg and hand. The only problem is that we don’t know when she will wake up. It could be a few days or it could be a few years.” He told me, a few years? I couldn’t go years without my best friend.
“Okay thanks for the information, hey um was there anything recovered from the crash?” I asked.
“Yes I think her skateboard and phone were recovered would you like them?” I just nodded and he exited to I’m assuming get her stuff. He came back a little while later with her phone and board. She may never be able to see this stuff again. No! Cameron stop, you can’t think about that. She will wake up and she will be fine. I unlocked her phone and saw she had been texting Jc constantly. She had 10 unread messages from him; he was so concerned that she hadn’t responded to any of his messages. Oh no, it’s going to have to be me who tells him the news. I unlocked my phone and dialed Jc’s number.
“Hello?” Jc answered the phone sounding worried.
“Hey Jc, its Cam.”
“Oh hey Cam what’s up? Have you heard from Abby?”
“That’s what I called about; we need to talk about Abby.”
“What about Abby?” he asked sounding more worried than ever.
“She um s-she was i-in an a-accident.” I tried to say through sobs.
“What kind of accident?”
