Our Gunkel Stan walks us upstairs into the attic " This is your room, love it or hate it I don't care, don't come downstairs till dinner." He informs us pushing us into our room. It's an eerie old attic. Great. Just another reason not to trust our Gunkel. I have come to a quick conclusion that Stan isn't the Stanford Pines our parents told us about, they said that Stan is a genius scientist; the guy downstairs is a crappy salesman.
Mabel and I have now finished unpacking and there's still at least 6 hours till dinner. "I'll go downstairs to see if Stan has anything for us to do!" Mabel exclaims. I just nod my head. To be honest, I'm not bothered about jobs, I brought enough books to last me a week- ok I need jobs to do actually.
1 day later
Mabel and I are sitting in the attic. " Dipper, we need Summer goals." Mabel tells me.
"Ok." I respond.
" Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm what should they be?"
" I don't know."
" I know!"
"What?"
"I will get a boyfriend!"
"Ok."
"What about you?"
"No clue"
"Maybe you could get a girlfriend?"
" Mabel, I don't even have regular friends."
"Oh."
"I know I'll try to have adventure and mystery!"
" Boring!" Mabel gets out of bed and walks off.
1 week later
"He's looking at it!"Mabel exclaims gawking over a boy instead of working. Gunkel Stan decided to give us jobs at the mystery shack- exactly what I want to spend my summer doing. " Do you like me? Yes, definitely absolutely?!" The boy reads the note in fear, he looks around the shack.
"I rigged it!" Mabel exclaimed.
"Mabel, I know your going through your boy crazy phase but isn't this overdoing the crazy part?" I ask.
"What nah," Mabel responds, I catch the poor boy running out of the shack. I stopped listening to Mabel and stared out the window. I wonder if anyone is watching us right now. Am I real. Am I awake?
"Dipper you do it." Stan passes me some signs.
"Wait what am I doing?"
"Just nail these up in the woods." Stan walks off before I can speak.
I watch my back and stay cautious of my surroundings as I wander through the woods. I nail up some signs along the road towards the shack. I see a note from Stan, "Nail some up by the Gravity Falls elementary." I mumble. I sigh.
I hammer up the sign on the trees, watching my back with every hit. I lose focus on a tree, I try to hit it but all I hear is a metal clank. I hit again. Still just a metal clank. I brush my hand against the metal and find a way to open the tree. inside is a shovel and a map, the map leads me 10 steps forward. Since I had a lot of time to spare I dug a hole in the ground.
10 minutes later
Finally, after 10 long tireless minutes, I hit something. I crouch down and pick up an old book. It's a rouge colour and has a golden six-fingered hand with a two in the middle. " Wow..." I mumble. I hear some people in the distance so I don't hesitate to run off with the book in hand.
I look back as I run and remembered I still needed to hang up a sign. Oh well. Stan won't know.
"Why were you out for so long?" Stan asks, he is opening a can of Pitt soda. "You wrote a note telling me to hang up signs by the elementary school," I respond.
"No I didn't, eh, Gideon won't like to see those." Stan chugs down the soda and then tells me, " You look like a mess! Did the little kiddies rage war on you or something?" Stan laughs.
The door bursts open, "This girl's got a date!" Mabel exclaims before carefully closing the door. "How did you get a date in the fifteen minutes you were out for? And you were meant to find Dipstick here." Stan asks.
"I dunno guess I'm just irresistible." Mabel jokes walking the sleeves of her sweater around.
"Wait, you sent Mabel out to look for me? How long was I gone for?" I ask.
"Two hours." Stan responds.
"Wait what!" I exclaim."Yeah, we thought you were dead dude!" Soos chuckles.
" Are we all forgetting the big news?" Mabel asks.
"Wait did you even look for him?" Stan asks.
" I did but then a super cute guy came and offered to help. Now we are dating!" Mabel twirls around.
"The important thing is both twins are safe," Soos says. Stan slightly jerks back.
" How long did you spend looking for your brother?" Stan asks.
"Errrrrrr- 10 or so minutes..." Mabel mumbles.
"Longer time than what I would spend." Stan jokes causing the room to burst into laughter. I leave feeling embarrassed.
I sit down on my bed after 10 long minutes of blowing out worms dirt and other gross crap out of the journal. I flick through the pages with a sigh of relief. "Ow-crap." I accidentally dropped the journal on my foot. The book landed open. I pick it up keeping the same page up. I read a text extract, "Does none believe you? Do you feel like none trusts you? Do you feel like someone is watching you?" I mumbled the text aloud. I agree with the last two points. I continue reading aloud at a low volume, " I felt this but now my new friend has truly helped me, people like me now, people believe me, people want to work with me - and not out of guilt. Do you want this, then summon Bill Cipher by reading the next piece of text aloud." I won't trust things on first read so I won't say any possible curses aloud. I feel angry eyes glare at me. I will only read the passage aloud if people stop believing me. "Dipper! Come to meet my boyfriend." I slam the journal shut, put it in my jacket and walk downstairs.
"Ta-da!" Mabel waves her hands infront of a pale teenager. The guy is wearing a black hoodie along with patched denim trousers and brown shoes. I already don't trust this guy. "So what's his name?" I ask Mabel.
"Normal MAN." The guy yells out.
"He means Norman."Mabel giggles before skipping off with Norman. "Is it just me or does Norman look untrustworthy?" I ask Stan who was chilling on his chair.
"Eh, all teenagers look weird. Like, have you ever seen Wendy's friend Robbie!" Stan responds. I decide it's best to return to the attic. The believing thing is a coincidence. This won't happen again, so no need to summon the dream demon. Right?
I look out the window to see Norman and Mabel. Norman is stumbling up just like a zombie towards Mabel. I feel my heart race in my chest. Is Norman a zombie?
I skim through the journal as fast as I could placing my finger on a random page. For crying out loud my finger landed on Bill Cipher. I flick through the pages and there it was. A detailed drawing of Norman, drawn in 1979. Norman looked exactly the same as he does now. I read the passage aloud to myself, "I originally thought this strange teenager in the woods was a zombie. But no, he appeared to be three gnomes begging for a queen. I pushed a young girl out of the gnomes' grasp, she was able to run off but unfortunately for me they tried to stick me to the ground. They are pretty easy to escape, yet unfortunately, I wasn't able to gather much information off of them."
Great. Now I need to tell Mabel that her boyfriend is a bunch of gnomes. HOW ON EARTH DO I DO THAT! She'll think I'm crazy. Ok, I'll stalk them, that way I can gather evidence, or I could show Mabel the journal l... No that's a bad idea, she may think I'm crazy.
The door creaks as I walk out onto the landing. "DIPPERRRRRRR COME ONNNNN YOUT TAKING FOREVERRRRR!"Mabel shouts dragging nearly every word.
"IM COMING!" I shout."What took you so long?" Mabel asks, she is stood infront of 'Norman'. I stare into 'Norman's' eyes. They widen. " We wanted to invite you to go into the woods with us!" Mabel exclaimed. "We want you to join us!"
"Do I have a choice?" I ask.
"Nope! Mabel skips off to the kitchen.I glare at Norman. We are making eye contact. I will not blink. I won't blink. I don't want to blink. If I do I lose. The gnomes will kill me. Mabel is in danger. What do I do?
