It started when you were looking over at the happy couple and it almost made you sick in a way. I mean, don't get it wrong, you're happy if your friend is. Although, you couldn't stop the slight disappointment that Lily has actually given in to Potter's advances. You mean all those years of persistence for basically nothing. You didn't even realize you were glaring at their intertwined hands as you walked behind them until you were snapped out of your concentrated look by a very familiar voice.

"You know, love, if you're feeling left out I can always give you the attention you need."

"Keep walking, Black," you say, attempting to pick up your pace.

"As long as I'm walking next to you," he smiles cheekily in a way that makes you want to slap him. You just roll your eyes.

"Could you stop?" You ask. "You've been flirting since our second year. You know nothing's going to happen."

"Are you kidding!" Sirius says as more of a sentence rather than a question. "If James could get Lily then anything is possible. Why should I give up now?"

"I'll save you the effort and tell you right now it'll never happen," you say. "There's one major difference between you and Potter you're overlooking." We stopped in front of the fat lady once we reached her, Lily and Potter had already headed inside.

"What's that?" He asks. He moves slightly closer towards you to the point where you could faintly feel his breath hit your face.

"Your advances aren't sincere," you say. "You only want me for the mere fact that I don't fawn over you like every other girl at this school." You head into the common room after whispering the password to the fat lady. When you walk through you immediately notice the two lovebirds in the corner out of earshot. Remus was sitting with them clearly uncomfortable with their honeymoon faze.

Sirius stops you two feet into the common room, grabbing your arm and forcing you to face him. "My advances are sincere." He looked at you as if you had gravely offended him, which with Sirius Black, you understood was challenging to do.

"I don't have time for this, Sirius," you say, "some of us want good grades on our O.W.L.S."

You untangle your arm from his grip and head on your way to your room to finish up some homework. Your mind drifts to the look in his eyes and you wonder if perhaps he had been sincere just as he was saying. Although, the last thing you want to do is get ahead of yourself. You understood Black's reputation and didn't want to get yourself wrapped up with him all of a sudden. Look at what he's doing already, you can't even concentrate on your work.

Soon Lily returns to your room when you were just finishing up your potions essay and she flings herself onto your bed and sighs.

"I know you're just sighing because you want me to ask you what's wrong," you say to her, not looking up from your paper as you write the last sentence.

She sighs again and you finally look at her, putting your paper to the side to let it dry before putting it away.

"What is it?" You ask.

"Well, James and I want to spend the day at Hogsmeade together," she starts then turns her head away mockingly sad, "but Sirius is tagging along with us."

"Your point?" You ask.

"Well, if he had someone to occupy hi-"

"No," you cut her off. "Absolutely not."

Lily sits up and turns to face you, her red hair falling gracefully over her shoulders. Her face was slightly more serious, even for her.

"Why not?" she asks.
