I'm stood next to Darius as we look in front of us at Blue who is making her way towards all of us, screeching at every little thing as she goes. We are both edging backwards, my hand still raised, I hear Kenji whimpering behind me, "It's okay. It's okay. We're all okay" Darius tries to reassure us all.
The boys continue whimpering and the raptors also continue to snarl.
"Kenji, those bones-- check for a raptor skull" i furrow my eyebrows at Darius's idea, I haven't seen one of those callers since Billy.
"What?"
Darius stumbles over some bones, lightly gripping my shoulder making sure I didn't fall either, "In the video game, I--" Darius tries to explain before getting interrupted. "You wanna talk about video games now?"
"Stop freaking out! I got this" I yell.
The girls screech and roar again and Darius falls over, the noises taking him by surprise. He grunts as he hits the floor and starts panting out of fear. Blue's head shoots down to Darius and the others follow. "Hey! Eyes on me!" I was trying to channel my inner dad. Charlie, Echo and Delta all swiftly look up at me, their intimidating stares going away, "Blue! What did I just say? Look at me, not him!"
Her head shoots up to me, just like it did to Darius. She keeps her menacing look, trying to get me to back down. I kept the scowl on my face, never letting it leave even for a second. Her growls began to get softer, showing signs of defeat.
"No! Let me out! Let me out!" Kenji pleads.
I hear Darius shuffling away behind me, the girls confidence returns at the sound of Kenji's scared tone. I hear a soft thud, indicating that Darius's back has hit the wall, he yelps realising he has nowhere to go. It will be easy to get the others to back down but Blue is leading her pack now. I begin to back up at the sight of them getting enough confidence to start walking towards us all. The boys start to whimper again, I watch Blue snap at Echo beside her, making it obvious she wanted to be the one to iniciate the attack on us. A few seconds later loud electrical noises erupt around the paddock, and the large bright lights turn on, blinding me for a quick second.
It seemed to bother the raptors too as they bowed their heads and started clawing at the air surrounding them, trying to usher the light away, I squint as a light shines right in my eyes still not backing down. I feel both Kenji and Darius's gaze on me, just then I hear a familiar voice yell from above on the walkways which seemed to make three raptors get distracted, "Hey, come and get it!" I hear a familiar voice yell, before my brain figures out it's Roxie. She drops some large pieces of meat to keep the girls busy while we escape. Echo, Delta and Charlie run off to get their little midnight snack.
