Chapter Nineteen: The Exams

"So you still can't find her?" You asked 

"No, I have searched tirelessly, yet her whereabouts still elude me! It's not like her to run off like this..." You could hear a faint crack in Gundham's voice like he was near tears.

He was obviously distressed, his dog had gone missing a day or so prior, he skipped class the day before to look for her which Ms. Yukisome turned into the class activity for the day. Unfortunately, she still hadn't turned up. That morning the two of you had gone around campus to put up missing posters for her, although at this point your classroom was plastered with them. 

You placed a reassuring hand on Gundham's back, "I'm sure we'll find her soon, she can't have gone too far."

"I should have kept a more watchful eye while leaving my chambers... She probably has not been being fed properly since she fled..." You could practically hear the tears welling in his eyes.

"Hun, that's not on you..." You hugged him tightly, feeling his lightly shake in your arms still trying to hold back tears. 

You heard the classroom door open and close, "Jesus- All of this over a dog!? You two better not have us walking all over campus again! My legs still hurt from yesterday." Hiyoko loudly exclaimed upon noticing the missing posters all over the classroom walls.

You looked up at Hiyoko annoyed, "You would be worried too if it was your dog?"

"Well it's not, either way, it's no one else's fault that it's missing so why should we have to look for it. It's probably halfway across the city or roadkill by now so what does it matter?" She crossed her arms.

Her words pissed you off especially because of who was also in earshot, "Hiyoko, kindly, shut the fuck up." 

"I'm just telling the truth!" She huffed.

"Hiyoko." Mahiru put a hand on her shoulder indicating not to continue.

You made sure Gundham was alright and made your way to your seat as more people started to show up.

Once Ms. Yukisome made it to the classroom she handed out some packets, this was the schedule for the practical exams that would be beginning the following day.  Your class had known about this for about a week at that point. You had been preparing anything you thought they might ask of you for your demonstration, notes, skills, etc. You weren't sure how they were going to test you and you wanted to be ready for anything. 

After class, you went back to searching with Gundham, but unfortunately, still no luck. Though the two of you did find fresh tracks, insinuating that she was still on campus at least. Eventually, Gundham told you to head back to your dorm to prepare for your demonstration.

The next day you weren't really required to go to class, all you had to do was show up at the exam location at the time you were scheduled to demonstrate. You were in your dorm putting together a folder for your notes and getting ready for the day, your anxiety was getting the better of you, you kept going over every possible thing you could need and thinking of every possible thing they could use to test you. Soon enough you were ready to head out, your demonstration wasn't for another couple of hours but you figured you'd go early so you could see how the test was performed and quell your nerves a bit. 

You walked through the school's halls to get to the exam location and stopped dead in your tracks at the sound of an explosion, it was close by, so loud it made your ears ring and the shaking of the ground below you almost threw you off balance. You ran to the exam location to see it decimated, a crowd of security officers had gathered to find out what happened and past them, you saw Nagito who you thought had also run out to see what had happened. By then a small group of students had come out behind you. 

A security officer noticed the crowd beginning to form and spoke up, "All students need to leave the area immediately and return to your dorms, the school will be on lockdown until further notice while we investigate this matter. A formal announcement will be put out shortly."

Most of the growing crowd didn't move, all you could hear was a cacophony of "What happened?" "Who did this?" "What's going on?" "Are we in danger?", you almost felt like you were being drowned by the looming wave of fear and anxiety coming from the people around you. The only answer the officers would give was an almost exact copy of what the first officer had said. At some point, the students surrounding you followed their orders and so did you. Before you did you caught a glimpse of Ms. Yukisome speaking with Nagito. 

As you walked down the hall the announcement regarding the school's lockdown played over the intercom, the announcement asked all students to remain calm and return to the dorms until further notice. The whole situation had you on edge, but a familiar yip from behind you broke you from your thoughts, you turned back to find the lost dog, she was lightly covered in dust and dirt but it was her. She ran up to you, tail wagging, and all but climbed up your leg. It seemed you weren't the only one happy you'd found her. You picked her up and continued to walk back to the dorms with a little bit more pep in your step than before. 

"(Y/N)!" As soon as you returned to the dorms Gundham rushed over to you not seeming to notice what you were carrying "Are you harmed? Did anything happen to you?" 

"I'm alright, a bit shaken like everyone else, but alright. Anyway, look who I found following me down the hall." You held the dog out to Gundham 

"General Kipius III! You found her!" The look on his face could light up a room.

"Yep, she needs a bath though." You gently passed her to Gundham.

"Ah, I see, up to her usual deeds I see. We shall wash away the evidence of her sins so she may fool the mortals into believing her harmless." He smiled as he held up the general.

You giggled and walked with Gundham to his dorm trying to forget about what just happened.

[Didn't want to post the update before we had at least one new chapter ready so here we are, I can't wait to be done speeding through events in the anime so we can get to the stuff that we actually have good ideas for. Also, we can't really remember if Gundham's dog had a name in that episode so we just gave her a new one.] -Tech
